New cards in Ursula’s Return to look for

We are getting several powerful new Broom-centric cards that are going to have a big impact on the Magic Broom deck. Let’s look at them below and why they matter.

Yen Sid – Powerful Sorcerer

While Yen Sid isn’t a “Broom” character, he’s going to be a staple in Broom decks. This card is pretty insane if you think about it. You get to draw a card just from playing it, it’s only a two-cost character, and it’s got three lore as long as you have a few Broom characters in play.

Mickey Mouse – Playful Sorcerer

Mickey Mouse – Playful Sorcerer is a powerful boon to the Broom deck strategy. It’s got Shift 3 meaning you can play him pretty easily. Meanwhile, he’s got a pretty sick ability that can dish out a ton of damage when he’s played. I also like the fact that Mickey’s got Resist +1, making him pretty tough to take out.

Magic Broom – Illuminary Keeper

Last but not least, we have Magic Broom – Illuminary Keeper. This Broom is going to make it possible for you to draw an extra card just by banishing it. This could be used with Yen Sid to draw a total of two cards. And there are plenty of ways to keep recycling this particular broom, so you can benefit from its ability over and over.

Magic Broom Deck – Core Strategy

Before getting into the key cards that make this deck work, it’s worth noting that the Magic Broom deck’s core strategy lies in blitzing as many cards onto the field as possible. For that reason, many cards are included in this deck that benefit from having a lot of characters in play – cards like Strength of a Raging Fire or the two Sing Together Songs.

If you can manage to outblitz your opponent and play countless Broom cards from your hand, you could quickly see that pay out in terms of gaining vasts amount of lore quickly, and clearing the board of everything and anything that could stand in your way.

Magic Broom Deck – Key Cards

Before getting into the general strategy for this Magic Broom deck we’ll take a look at a few of the key cards that really make it work.

Mickey Mouse – Wayward Sorcerer

We would be remiss in creating a Magic Broom deck list and guide without highlighting Mickey Mouse – Wayward Sorcerer. This card is critical to any Magical Brooms deck, enabling you to play them for one cost less while also enabling you to return them to your hand whenever they would be banished in a challenge.

This ability ensures that you always a good steady supply of Magic Brooms in your hand, and allow you to benefit from challenging and challenging often.

The Sorcerer’s Tower – Wondrous Workspace

While Mickey Mouse may arguably be the single most vital card to your deck’s strategy, The Sorcerer’s Tower is what’s breathing new life into the Magic Brooms deck concept. Being able to move your Broom characters to this location for free is a pretty huge advantage. Meanwhile, they gain additional lore value just for being there.

Magic Broom – Dancing Duster

You’re going to want to play as many sorcerer type characters in this deck as you can get away with. That’s because of your strongest Magic Broom: the Dancing Duster. Assuming you have a sorcerer character in play (should be manageable given all the sorcerer type characters in this deck), you can actually use the same powerful ability that Elsa – Spirit of Winter became famous for. You can exert an opposing character, and prevent that character from being readied next turn.

This is even more exciting because thanks to Mickey Mouse being in play, you can play this card for pretty cheap (not to mention Animate Broom is a stackable ability, meaning you lose one cost for each Wayward Sorcerer in play).

Magic Broom – Swift Cleaner

In addition to the Dancing Duster, you can also play Swift Cleaner. Swift Cleaner quests for three lore when combined with the Tower, and it has two powerful abilities to pay attention to, including Rush and “Clean This, Clean That,” letting you return all Brooms from your discard into your deck.

Magic Brooms are a great use case for Sing Together

With the introduction of Sing Together, Magic Brooms also have a powerful new tool at their disposal. Because this deck focuses on bringing as many cards into play as possible and then easily recycling them with Mickey – Wayward Sorcerer, you should have plenty of low cost characters you can exert to sing these powerful songs.

Namely, we’re including Mob Song.

The Mob Song

While this deck only runs one copy of this Sing Together song, getting it off even once in a game can turn the battle in your favor.

Madam Mim – Purple Dragon to bounce Brooms back

Madam Mim – Purple Dragon can be a late game tech that packs a punch in this deck. You can use her to send strong character cards back into your hand and then play them to use their effects all over again. Meanwhile, she quests for a ton of lore and is Evasive, making her very useful.

Magic Broom Deck – Strengths and Weaknesses

I see this Magic Broom deck as standing somewhere between an Aggro and Midrange deck, with the ability to switch between strategies as required. For this reason, it’s got a decent chance against aggro decks (it should be able to handle those with relative ease) and against Control Decks (don’t bother with building up strong characters just race to twenty lore).

Where it’s likely to suffer the most is in protracted battles with Ruby Decks that can clear your hard work with Be Prepared, or against Steel decks that can obliterate your characters more easily than you can theirs.
