Lugia V Alt Art – How Valuable is It?
I don’t know how you feel about it, but the Sword and Shield era of Pokemon TCG had some of the best cards. One of those is Lugia V Alternate Art. But just how valuable is this incredibly rare card? What are your odds of pulling it in a pack? And is it worth it to just purchase it right out?
Why Lugia V Alt Art is one of our favorite alt arts of the SWSH era
Saying a card is among your favorite alternate arts from an era filled to the brim with fantastic cards is a big claim. So what is it about this card that we love so much?
First of all, this card reminds me of another of my favorite Pokemon cards – Shining Gyarados. I don’t know if this was a direct tribute to that famous card, but the Pokemon flying overhead while the guy in the boat stairs on increduously is fantastic. It captures a feeling you get when playing Pokemon that is often missing in the more anime-style Pokemon cards.
At the heart of Pokemon is adventure. And this card captures that feeling perfectly.
What is the Lugia V Alt Art pull rate?
Your odds of pulling Lugia V Alt Art in a Silver Tempest pack is not very good. According to TCGplayer, you have about a 1 in 674 chance of pulling this super rare, super desirable card. I would definitely recommend purchasing it online if you feel like you can’t live without it, or you will easily spend more money on the packs you buy searching for it than you would on the card itself.
Is now a good time to buy Lugia V Alt Art?
Of course, the Pokemon TCG singles market changes a lot overtime. Is this an optimal time to buy this particular card? If you really, really want this card, the answer to that question may not really matter. I picked this card up online back when the market for it was a lot higher. I figured it would come down overtime, but I didn’t really care. The card was just that cool.
To figure out whether or not now is a good time to buy, however, we should look at some historical data.
Lugia V Alt Art Price Overtime
As you can see, the value for Lugia V Alt Art has dropped significantly since the release of Silver Tempest. It’s dropped much lower than I thought it would, down below $150. Given that consistent downward trend, I think it would be safe to assume that it could come down even more.
However, I think the price it is at right now is a pretty compelling value, and there is the off chance that the downward swing could tick back up again. It’s been known to happen.
Lugia V Alt Art – Final Verdict
This card is beautiful. It’s available at an affordable price right now given its rarity and epicness. While it’s quite likely that it’s price could come down more, it’s been a pretty slow drop in value, so I doubt it will drop a lot overnight.
