8 Competitive Lorcana Budget Decks To Try

Lorcana is a fun game. But like any TCG, it can certainly get to be pretty expensive. But you don’t have to spend a fortune in order to have fun. There are plenty of strong, competitive decks that you can build and acquire without spending your life’s savings.

Below we are going to be taking a look at some of our favorite budget Lorcana decks, including diving into what makes them good and a little bit about how to play them.

Mickey Broom Budget Deck – $33.94

  • 4 Magic Broom - Swift Cleaner

4 Magic Broom - Dancing Duster

    4 Rafiki - Mystical Fighter

    1 The Sorcerer's Hat

4 And Then Along Came Zeus

4 Friends on the Other Side

4 Mickey Mouse - Wayward Sorcerer

4 The Bayou - Mysterious Swamp

4 Magic Broom - Bucket Brigade

    3 Genie - Supportive Friend

    4 Chernabog's Followers - Creatures of Evil

    4 The Sorcerer's Tower - Wondrous Workspace

4 Magic Broom - The Big Sweeper

    4 Jafar - Dreadnought

    4 Jafar - Royal Vizier

4 Magic Broom - Industrial Model

One of the cheapest but also among the best Lorcana decks you can play right now is the Magic Broom deck. While Magic Brooms have been teased as a themed deck option since the very beginning, there hasn’t been much support to make a real deck archetype out of these nifty brooms until Into the Inklands hit the shelves. Now, it’s a very solid, very affordable deck to play.

The deck’s strategy revolves around using your Mickey Mouse – Wayward Sorcererer to play our Broom cards easily and then have them returned to your hand once banished. This helps ensure a constant stream of broom cards that you can use to overwhelm your opponent.

Also featured in this deck is the powerful Jafar – Dreadnaught. You can use this card along with a plethora of other cards to keep your draws going and your hand strong.

Players looking to make this deck even stronger will undoubtedly look to add Jafar – Striking Illusionist into the mix. However, that adds a significant amount of cost and while more competitive, this deck can certainly get the job done in the state it is now.

Amethyst Emerald Discard – $44.76

Emerald/Amethyst Bounce
  • 4 Flynn Rider - His Own Biggest Fan

4 Flynn Rider - Confident Vagabond

    4 Sudden Chill

4 Flynn Rider - Charming Rogue

    2 Mother Knows Best

    4 Befuddle

    3 Madam Mim - Snake

    4 Merlin - Goat

4 Bucky - Squirrel Squeak Tutor

    4 Lucifer - Cunning Cat

4 Donald Duck - Perfect Gentleman

4 Daisy Duck - Secret Agent

    4 Hypnotize

    2 Arthur - Wizard's Apprentice

    4 Madam Mim - Fox

    1 The Sorcerer's Spellbook

4 Prince John - Greediest of All

This was the first deck I built when Rise of the Floodborn came out. Of course, it was a little more expensive when that one came out. Now, however, these cards are very affordable, and they’re bolstered by the latest and greatest from Into the Inklands.

The main strategy here is to get your board setup so you can start discarding your opponent’s hand with a pretty insane discard combination. The cool thing about this deck is that it can really destroy your opponent’s hand. The negative side is you don’t have a whole lot of ways to get rid of your opponent’s characters. Sure you can attack them with Madam Mim – Fox, or you can bounce them with Kid Cloudkicker, but the real key is to getting card advantage over your opponent. If you can do that by mid-game, you’re in pretty good shape to just win flat-out.

Ruby/Amethyst Bounce Control – $102

Ruby/Amethyst
  • 4 The Queen's Castle - Mirror Chamber

    3 Be Prepared

4 Prince Eric - Expert Helmsman

4 Minnie Mouse - Always Classy

3 Maui - Hero to All

4 Yzma - Scary Beyond All Reason

4 Friends on the Other Side

    4 Olaf - Friendly Snowman

4 Madame Medusa - The Boss

    4 Agrabah - Marketplace

4 Minnie Mouse - Stylish Surfer

    4 Madam Mim - Snake

    4 Merlin - Goat

    2 Teeth and Ambitions

    3 Merlin - Rabbit

    4 Madam Mim - Fox

    1 The Sorcerer's Spellbook

Ruby/Amethyst has been considered one of the strongest Lorcana decks since the very dawn of Lorcana. Today, it is arguably stronger than ever, although its competition has grown more fierce.
And while this deck once may have cost a fortune to build, today it can be built for relatively affordably (although it’s still going to cost you around the $100 mark in the form we’ve shared above). While most competitive decks are running Jim Hawkins to get a free location in play, you’ll find that you can make this deck work without him, especially if you aren’t looking to pay the high price tag associated with him.

This deck’s main strength rests in its high strength bounce attackers in the early game, a bevy of strong card removal characters and songs in the late game, and perfect synergy without. If that weren’t enough, locations have boosted the deadly combo, ocvering much of its previous weaknesses.

Sapphire/Steel on a Budget – $105

Sapphire/Steel on a Budget
  • 4 And Then Along Came Zeus

4 Captain Hook - Forceful Duelist

    4 Let It Go

    4 Maleficent - Uninvited

    4 Fishbone Quill

    4 McDuck Manor - Scrooge's Mansion

    4 Mickey Mouse - Detective

    4 Pawpsicle

    4 Gaston - Intellectual Powerhouse

    4 Hiram Flaversham - Toymaker

4 Tinker Bell - Giant Fairy

    4 Jafar - Dreadnought

    4 Jafar - Royal Vizier

    4 Cogsworth - Grandfather Clock

4 Let the Storm Rage On

Lorcana Sapphire/Steel is a powerful and popular archetype, and this deck takes advantage of many of the more affordable yet strong cards in those ink colors. Thanks to Cogsworth’s ability that grants resist to your characters and steel’s natural resist and damage canceling abilities, you can prevent a lot of damage from being done to your characters. Meanwhile, this deck also runs the powerful Pawpsicle draw engine which helps you keep the cards flowing.

It’s basically a budgeted down version of the Sapphire/Steel deck that’s super popular right now, and it’s still relatively pricey for a budget deck. It’s just very affordable compared to the full competitive build.

If you wanted to price this deck down even further you could get rid of Tinker Belle – Giant Fairy which costs about $10 a piece (although i’d recommend keeping her around if you have her/can afford it as she’s quite good).

Chernabog/Amethyst Aggro Deck – $54.89

  • 4 Baloo - von Bruinwald XIII

4 Wendy Darling - Talented Sailor

4 Tinker Bell - Generous Fairy

4 Never Land - Mermaid Lagoon

4 Maleficent - Biding Her Time

    4 Simba - Protective Cub

    4 The Bare Necessities

    4 Chernabog - Evildoer

    4 Chernabog's Followers - Creatures of Evil

    4 Mufasa - Betrayed Leader

4 Doc - Leader of the Seven Dwarfs

    4 Merlin - Goat

    4 Madam Mim - Fox

    1 The Sorcerer's Spellbook

    4 Kuzco - Wanted Llama

    3 Pinocchio - Star Attraction

Chernabog was one of the cards I was most looking forward to incorporating into a deck when I first saw it revealed in the Into the Inklands spoilers. The version of the deck that I play also runs four Mufasa – Betrayed Leaders in it. However, for the sake of budgeting it down, I’ve replaced Mufasa with Friends on the Other Side. Personally I like having the added utility of Mufasa but I think this deck can function quite well without him, as it’s focused more on getting characters out early and defending them with bodyguards than late game powerhouses.

Ruby/Steel Full Removal – $31.91

Ruby/Steel
  • 2 Minnie Mouse - Always Classy

4 Prince Eric - Expert Helmsman

    4 Ba-boom!

4 Mr. Smee - Bumbling Mate

4 And Then Along Came Zeus

4 Captain Hook - Forceful Duelist

    3 Dragon Fire

4 The Bayou - Mysterious Swamp

2 Madame Medusa - The Boss

    4 Agrabah - Marketplace

4 Minnie Mouse - Stylish Surfer

3 Queen of Hearts - Impulsive Ruler

    4 Jafar - Dreadnought

2 Benja - Guardian of the Dragon Gem

    4 Jafar - Royal Vizier

4 The Prince - Never Gives Up

4 Let the Storm Rage On

Updated with relevant cards from into the Inklands, this deck has enough firepower to be truly deadly amongst budget decks.. If you’re looking for an affordable deck (under $40) that gets the job done, try out this one. It’s filled to the brim with cards great at card removal via every possible way – via challenging with Jafar – Dreadnaught, damage with Ba-Boom! or Let the Storm Rage On, or via straight-up banishment with Dragon Fire, Prince Eric or Lady Medusa.

A few other highlights in this deck include The Prince who will protect your characters as they race towards 20 lore and cause mayhem for your opponent and several powerful locations to gain you passive lore and help you draw cards.

Amethyst/Steel Aggro by Zach Bivens $85

Zach Bivenst Purple Steel
  • 4 Maleficent - Sorceress

4 Maleficent - Biding Her Time

4 Mr. Smee - Bumbling Mate

3 Friends on the Other Side

    4 Olaf - Friendly Snowman

    4 Befuddle

    4 Chernabog's Followers - Creatures of Evil

4 Strength of a Raging Fire

    4 Madam Mim - Snake

    3 Hercules - True Hero

    4 Merlin - Goat

4 The Prince - Never Gives Up

    4 Merlin - Rabbit

    4 Madam Mim - Fox

    2 Arthur - Wizard's Apprentice

    1 The Sorcerer's Spellbook

    3 Pinocchio - Star Attraction

Aggro decks are usually among the more affordable options out there, and this particular one is among the best. Zach Bivens piloted this powerhouse deck to a top place finish at a major tournament. Use high questing characters like Maleficent and Pinochio to gain lore quickly, then protect them with your Madam Mim bounce characters and bodyguards. This deck also has several options available to keep your opponent at bay including four copies of both Befuddle and Strength of a Raging Fire.

Ruby/Emerald Evasive – $22

Ruby/Emerald Evasive

1st out of 42 players – Ruby/Emerald by Cloclo1188

Ruby/Emerald was noticed early on as being a possible strong deck thanks to some of the new cards in Into the Inklands. It really took the world by storm, however, after finishing in first place at a midsized tournament. This deck’s power rests in its aggressive ability to gain lore quickly while avoiding getting banished thanks to a high number of Evasive characters.

For those looking for a cheaper option, Ruby/Emerald is a solid Lorcana budget deck, available at a very low cost by Lorcana standards.
