Five Winter Themed Pokemon Cards to Collect
#1 Glaceon VMAX Alternate Art – Evolving Skies
Starting with the best first, Glaceon VMAX Alternate Art is my favorite winter themed Pokemon card of them all. I mean, honestly – how do you get more in the spirit for the season than an ice skating Pikachu standing next to a Dynamax Glaceon? If you look closely, Eevee is also in the artwork, pawing on the leg of its evolved form, probably trying to get Glaceon’s attention.
If you need another reason to collect this card apart from its beauty and winter themed wonder, checkout it’s market price. This card is worth a lot of money right now and seems to be holding up very well in price.
#2 Hisuian Lilligant V Alternate Art – Astral Radiance
Although this Lilligant V card may not carry the kind of market value Glaceon VMAX is famous for, you can’t imagine a much better winter card than this. Wach Lilligant “dance gracefully” over the ice on a pair of ice skates while wintery Pokemon watch all around it. This is one of my favorite alt art cards from the Sword and Shield Era, and a great memory as well because I pulled this one from a booster pack.
#3 Celebi V Alternate Art – Fusion Strike
Believe it or not, I got this Celebi V alternate art from a fusion strike ETB. And, unfortunately, I sold it. Fortunately I sold it for double the price it’s worth today. Unfortunately It was a great memory getting this card in the wild and definitely would’ve been worth it to just hold onto it. Anecdote aside, this card looks gorgeous and it’s truly a beautiful wintry card featuring a very spritely Pokemon that totally fits the mood.
#4 Chien-Pao Special Illustration Rare – Paldea Evolved
I feel like it would be wrong to make a list of current winter themed Pokemon and exlude this special illustration rare Cien-Pao from it. Chien-Pao looks totally cool in this artwork, snowstorm swirling around him in an endless vortex Elsa-style. Chien-Pao is one of the most epic cards to come out of Scarlet & Violet, and the perfect inclusion to this list of winter Pokemon cards you should totally collect.
#5 Suicune V - Crown Zenith: Galarian Gallery
Last but not least, Suicune V from Crown Zenith gives us a gorgeous depiction of a truly epic Pokemon. Perhaps the coolest thing about Crown Zenith, and what lent to how amazing it is is the fact that it gave us a lot of cards in their alternate forms even though before we only got to see them in their regular forms. Although these Galarian Gallery cards won’t hold the same prestige as the alternate arts from the era do, it’s still really fascinating to see some of our favorite cards depicted in even more gorgeous ways.
I think what lends to this card’s emotional kick isn’t just the ice theme – it’s the solitude of this card, depicting this famously solitary Pokemon alone somewhere probably in the far, far north, where most others wouldn’t even dare to go.
