10 Most Competitive Cards in Lost Caverns of Ixalan

With the exciting release of Lost Caverns Of Ixalan this fall. We have compiled a list of the best cards for you to strike fear into your opponent's heart. With nearly 500 cards being released it can be daunting to try and figure out what cards to put in your deck. This article is here to help you.

#10 The ancient one.

An 8/8 for two mana cost! But there's a catch, the ancient one cannot attack or block until there are 8 or more permanent cards in your graveyard. Now some of us would question why bother. But if you tailor your deck to incorporate a mill mechanism in the early game you can get this card out on the battlefield fast.

Who wants to face an 8/8? Nobody, having an 8/8 creature that just wants to pulverize your opponent's board is setting you up for a quick victory. However, with this big creature on the field, they are going to be the target of everything they can muster up. Don't get too attached to the ancient one, most likely his threat will be eliminated soon, but while he's there let him do the most damage possible.

#9 Bloodletter of Aclazotz

Bloodletter of Aclazotz is a 2/4 flying for 4 mana. But this card's ability is super powerful. When your opponent loses life Bloodletter of Aclazotz doubles it. You can't imagine a game lasting long with this card under your control. However, I suspect this card is going to be dealt with soon even if you get it out on the field. A card like this has a massive target painted on the back of it.

#8 Bonehoard Dracosaur

Bonehoard Dracosaur is a 5/5 flying, first strike for 5 mana. Not only is this creature a big threat with flying and first strike, it also has a great ability. Every upkeep you exile the top two cards of your deck. You can play those cards that turn but if it's a land you get a 3/1 dinosaur token. Plus if it's a non-land card you get a treasure token.

You can overwhelm your opponent by picking them apart from the sky and there's a possibility of getting more and more dinosaur tokens to tear your opponent apart.

#7 Chupacabra Echo

Chupacabra echo is a 4 black mana 3/2 that can target an opponent's creature and gives it -X/-X until the end of the turn. X is the number of permanents in your graveyard. The advantage of using a card like this is that you are technically not destroying things you can eliminate indestructible creatures this way.

#6 Skullpore Nexus

Skullspore Nexus costs X less to play, where X is the greatest power among creatures you control. You’ll never pay the high mana cost of eight and with a powerful creature on the field, this card is easily playable.

Not only that but it can be tapped for two to double a creature's power until the end of turn. But that’s not the best thing about this card. Whenever one or more non-token creature you controls dies, create a green Fungus Dinosaur token with the base power and toughness each equal to the total power of those creatures. So if your creature dies it comes back again as a token, giving you the advantage of always keeping that pressure on your opponent.

#5 Resplendent Angel

Is it a reprint? Yes. Will it be the best card you can put in your deck? No. But I have to include this card in my list. I have just too many fond memories of this card to leave it out. Who doesn’t like flying angels that kick ass?

If you gain 5 life in a turn you create another 4/4 white angel token with flying and vigilance. If you’re worried you can’t gain 5 life, resplendent can turn into a 5/5 with life link for 5 mana, getting you that extra angle on the field.

#4 Squirming Emergence

For only 3 mana you can cast a nonland permanent from your graveyard to the field where the number of land permanents in your graveyard is equal or less to the mana cost. This card will be a game-changer if you have a big threat in your graveyard. You can construct your deck to mill and place those cards in the graveyard, giving you a massive game-turning opportunity.

#3 Echoing Deep

Echoing Deep is a great new release from the new set. Echoeing deep can copy any land from your graveyard. This means you can copy a fetch land or lands that turn into creatures or other land cards in the arsenal of magic the gathering.

#2 Matzalantli, the Great Door

This 3 mana artifact is interesting but wait until it transforms. This can be tapped and you draw a card and discard a card, but you can pay 4 mana and tap it to transform it as long as you have 4 permanents in your graveyard.

When it has transformed it allows you to add x mana of any color, where x is the number of permanent cards in your graveyard. You should be at least getting 4 mana but as the game goes on there will be more mana available.

#1 Chimil, the Inner Sun

This card is simple but powerful. Spells you control cannot be counted. You discover 5 cards and exile them until you exile a nonland card with 5 mana or less. Cast it without paying its mana cost or put it in your hand.
