Lorcana: Ursula’s Return Products Reviewed | Booster Box, Trove, Quest

It’s early release time for Lorcana: Ursula’s Return, and we’ve opened every product to show you what’s inside, what the best cards look like, and help you decide which products to get for yourself.

Lorcana Ursula’s Return Booster Box

Generally speaking, Booster Boxes are pretty straightforward no matter what trading card game you are into. There are a few reasons to get booster boxes, although the main reason is because they typically offer the best value-per-pack. The Ursula’s Return Booster Box contains 24 booster packs with 12 cards each.

From my experience (of course, every box is different), the ursula’s Return Booster Box had some incredibly great pulls that any player would be excited about. This is my third Lorcana booster box (I’ve purchsed one with each set) and so far each has had some really great stuff in it.

That being said, this is my first box I’ve pulled an Enchanted from. The Enchanted I got was the Second Star to the Right card which was actually my favorite artwork for songs in the set.

You can see more of the pulls I got below.

The Ursula’s Return Booster Box is actually selling below MSRP right now on TCGPlayer so I highly recommend picking one up for yourself.

Ursula’s Return Illumineer’s Trove

Although Booster Boxes have the best value-per-pack, Troves are fun to open for another reason. First of all, their boxes are collectible in-and-of themselves. They make for great storage for the cards you get from the set, and they also come with a trove of extra goodies.

I’ve been very, very lucky with my pulls from Troves, usually getting at least a Legendary. One of my three Enchanted cards I’ve pulled to date has been from a trove, as well.

This trove did not disappoint. With several rare cards, and gorgeous new multi-colored dice, I highly recommend this one to players. Additionally, the Trove comes with a new lore counter that’s very Ursula themed. Overall it’s a solid product worth picking up, especially if you can get it around its suggested retail price.

My favorite card from my Trove

My best pull from the trove is actually one I’m very excited about: it’s the Piglet – Sturdy Swordsman. I feel like this character should really be a Floodborn, but is’ definitely one I had my eye on before opening these products so I’m happy I pulled it.

Illumineer’s Quest – Deep Trouble

Last but certainly not least we have the Illumineer’s Quest – Deep Trouble. Being a fan of the main, one-on-one competitive style of the game myself, I was not expecting a whole lot from this particular product. However, I was pleasantly surprised by what came in the box. I won’t speak to the gameplay of the Illumineer’s Quest (I haven’t played it and I didn’t really get it to be played), but I will speak for its contents.

I definitely recommend this package to anyone, even those not looking to play it specifically. The package comes with some incredibly gorgeous artworks for incredibly popular cards like Mulan – Elite Archer and Piglet – Pooh Pirate Captain (among others).

Additionally, the two player decks included in this product are quite good with many solid staples you can use to build your own deck. I found these decks actually more compelling than the starter decks were from this set, and those looking to build a Magic Broom deck will be glad to know a lot of what you need is in this box.

The only downside was that there’s a deck included that you are supposed to play against. While the players’ decks are tournament legal, the Ursula deck that you play against is made up of exclusive cards with altered backs, meaning you can’t use them in competitive play. Many of these cards are gorgeously created, and I almost wish they had been released as their own special set that could be used with the main sets of the other expansions.

Additionally, the game package comes with a secretive reward that you get form beating Ursula. You can see the package below (although I won’t spoil what is inside for you).

Final Verdict

Ursula’s Return is a solid set, and its main products are great value. The cards are exciting, the idea for the Illumineer’s Quest was innovative and appealing to a broad range of players/collectors, and extra touch went into this set’s Trove to make it ultra themed to the set.

Another fantastic addition in a game that we’ve come to expect great things from.
