Paldean Fates Card List and Review
Who’s ready for an all English Paldean Fates card list?
While – yeah – you can find a lot of the spoilers online for Paldean Fates in Japanese, it’s really exciting when we get a sneak peak at the Paldean Fates spoilers revealed in English.
Here’s the thing though – with more than 240 cards in the set, Paldean Fates is going to be hard to review every single card. So here’s what we’ll do – we’ll give you a rundown on the first English Pokemon card spoilers revealed, and once there’s too many to review individually, we’ll just break them down by type so you can see them all!
*Update January 25th to the entire Paldean Fates set least officially revealed by Pokemon!

Paldean Fates – Shiny Pokemon
Shiny Raichu
Here. We. Go! A shiny Raichu. How cool is that? This is the perfect card to complete your shiny Pokemon set, as well as a worthy collectible for any mega Raichu/Pikachu fan. Apart from being mad collectible, however, this card won’t see play. Except for in casual decks, that is.
Shiny Pikachu
Speaking of Pikachu…
Shiny Pikachu was revealed as a spoiler from Poke Beach a bit ago, and it’s pretty cool!
And while shiny mega fans might be excited about Pikachu, to be fully honest much cooler Pikachu arts have been included in recent sets like Pokemon 151.
Shiny Mimikyu
Here’s a shiny I’m actually pretty excited about, mostly because Mimikyu is a pretty underrated Pokemon. While it’s been seeing a bit more play in Snorlax Stall decks, it could probably be utilized even more given it’s invulnerable against most of the main attackers out there.
Shiny Scyther
This Shiny Scyther looks epic, and I’ve been a long time Scyther fan so I feel somewhat qualified to have that opinion. This definitely would be an exciting card to pull from a Paldean Fates pack.
Shiny Baxcalibur
Not only does this Shiny Baxcalibur look cool, it’s a card that sees a ton of play in the popular Chien-Pao ex deck. You can bet that demand for players looking to bling their deck are going to drive this card’s value up. It actually reminds me a lot of the Inteleon line cards from the last shiny set Pokemon released.
Shiny Entei
Entei is a favorite Pokemon of many, and this one is a pretty cool rendition of him because not only does it feature a gorgeous shiny Entie, it features a pretty solid ability and even more solid attack.
Shiny Ditto
In general, Ditto is a pretty note able Pokemon. In this manifestation, it gains a handy ability that lets you switch it for any basic Pokemon in your deck. Right now, that pairs really well with Lost Box – a deck which leverages only basic Pokemon.
Players will certainly be looking to pull this shape shifting shiny Pokemon to add to their decks.
Snorlax
This version of Snorlax is far from its most competitive, but certainly it is one of the most collectible among the Snorlax cards released in Scarlet & Violet. Snorlax is, being a memorable member of the original 151, a popular Pokemon, so of course many players will chase this particular shiny in hopes of bagging it.

Paldean Fates Trainer Cards List
Moonlit Hill – Stadium
Moonlit Hill looks like a really powerful card, and it will be especially strong in the currently popular Gardevoir ex deck, enabling Gardevoir players to get basic energy into their discard while simultaneously healing all of their Pokemon. Assuming the Gardevoir ex deck archetype survives 2024 rotation, virtually every deck will run this card.
Technical Machine: Crisis Punch
TMs have already seen success on the competitive Pokemon scene, and I wouldn’t doubt someone will figure out how to run this card in their deck. It reminds me of the popular Radiant Charizard for its ability, and this TM gives virtually any deck the chance to take advantage of a late game turnaround.
Ultra Rare Clive – Supporter
We’ve been granted a sneak peak at some pretty cool new cards that will come out in Paldean Fates. However, Clive is our first ultra rare supporter card. It’s pretty cool that we got to see this card, but I doubt Clive is going to be the most popular of all cards. It’s not got a lot going for it from a collector’s standpoint and its playability is highly suspect.
Nemona – Ultra Rare
This is the first time we’re seeing Nemona show up as an ultra rare, taking up the full card with her artwork. And the artwork is very colorful. Despite having a pretty weak effect (Draw 3 cards never sees play), people might just add this to their list of top Paldean Fates chase cards because of how cool it looks.

Ultra Rare Trainer card list
Shiny Pokemon ex – Ultra Rares
These ultra rare shiny ex Pokemon appear much the same as the artwork in their already existing ultra rare forms, however with a few twists. See below for more info.
Shiny Mew ex – Ultra Rare
Does this card look familiar to you? It should – it is virtually the same card from Pokemon 151, only with shiny Mew coloring and the unique shiny background to it.
Shiny Squawkabilly ex – Ultra Rare
Of the ex Pokemon revealed so far, this might just be the one I am most excited about. As a player, I love Squawkabilly ex for it its ability to overcome the problem with Pokemon’s lack of an optional mulligan. If I get this card in a pack, I’ll certainly add it to my deck in place of the double rare version from Paldea Evolved.
Pidgeot ex – Ultra Rare
Players, not just collectors, will be interested in this particular chase card thanks to its popularity in the Charizard ex deck. Indeed, Pidgeot ex is one of the strongest Pokemon cards of 2023, with some nostalgic value since it is one of the original Pokemon 151.
Shiny Gardevoir ex – Ultra Rare
This ultra rare Shiny Gardevoir ex is going to be a highly sought after card by both players and collectors. Gardevoir ex is one of the top Pokemon decks right now, and overall Gardevoir is just a really popular Pokemon in general. So this is a particularly cool Paldean Fates spoiler to get officially confirmed in English!
Shiny Paldean Clodsire ex
Paldean Clodsire ex has an interesting ability and attack. However, this one is a bit of a lemon and I doubt it will be particularly sought after by either players or collectors.
Shiny Espathra ex
This card looks pretty cool but I’m really interested in how it could be used in competitive decks. Adding an extra attack cost to your opponent’s active Pokemon has the potential to be massively disruptive. Thanks to a favorable typing (Grass) this card could be an interesting tech for decks already running psychic energy.
Even in scenarios where you play this Pokemon against attackers that don’t run a bunch of energy, it could still be strong, as many decks right now leverage multiple energies to get their attacks off.

Paldean Fates – Illustration Rare Card List
Illustration rares offer alternate artwork of some of your favorite cards. From what we’ve seen of the illustration rare cards in Paldean Fates, we’re in store for some real treats.
Shiny Pawmi Illustration Rare
Shiny Palafin – Illustration Rare
Pokemon has officially revealed the first illustration rare in English today. That card is none other than Shiny Palafin. The card was originally released in Obsidian Flames.
While the artwork is pretty gnarly and this card is obviously underrated (just look at that 210 damage attack on a single prize Pokemon), I’m not gonna lie – this card totally freaks me out. Shiny Palafin is just standing their in the dark looking out in a creepy way at you. I would not want to run into this fish in a dark alley (or at the bottom of the sea).
Shiny Wugtrio
Checkout this Wugtrio hanging out at the bottom of the sea. There’s not a whole lot more to say about this card than that, other than one of the Wugrio hanging out is undoubtedly a shiny one. That combined with some pretty fun artwork definitely makes this card worth collecting.

Special Illustration Rare Cards
In addition to these epic shinies from the regular set, Pokemon has also revealed special illustration artworks for Paldean Fates in English. Take a look at them below.
Charizard ex – Special Illustration Rare
Here we go – one of the absolute most epic cards to come out of Paldean Fates – shining Charizard ex in its tera form. I really can’t contain myself when looking at how cool this card is. Shiny Charizard is by far my favorite shiny Pokemon, and this artwork does more than do it justice.
What I really like about this artwork is that it doesn’t just do the obvious shiny thing like the cards in the regular set do. Instead, what this card does is display Charizard in its shiny alternate coloring quite naturally. So naturally, in fact, that you almost don’t even realize that it’s in a different color. The reds and the blacks appear hard and real, just like they do in the regular version of this card. This is a perfect example of what an epic shining Pokemon card should be all about.
I would not be surprised if this card remains one of the top Charizard cards of all time years down the line when people think back to the epic Paldean Fates set.
Until then, have fun opening your packs in hopes of getting this rare and gorgeous card.
Mew ex – Special Illustration Rare
This card’s artwork is epic in its simplicity. While I may like the Mew ex from Pokemon 151’s Ultra Premium Collection even better, I can’t deny that this card looks cool. I especially appreciate the way they took care to only depict Pokemon from the original 151, keeping with the theme of that epic special set released previous to this one.
Mew here appears in its shiny form – a blue variation you’ll notice is different than its patented pink look. Blue definitely suits this Pokemon though. I can’t wait to get my hands on this super rare Mew ex version. And I’m sure plenty of other players can’t wait, either.
Shiny Gardevoir ex Special Illustration Rare
While Mew and Charizard ex will probably be the most valuable Paldean Fates chase cards to collect, Gardevoir ex might just be the most beautiful. Pictured here in its gorgeous shiny form, this artwork of Gardevoir is both tranquil and powerful in its simplicity and beauty.
Clive – Special Illustration Rare
The Clive Special Illustration rare card is the first trainer illustration rare we’ve seen officially confirmed to be in Paldean Fates. With attractive artwork, and plenty of popular trainers and Pokemon included with the sneaky sleuthing Clive spying on their hands, you know many collectors are going to be keen to add this to their set.
Stay tuned for more Pokemon Paldean Fates spoilers revealed in English!
Iono Special Illustration Rare
Pokemon has finally officially revealed that the Iono Special Illustration rare card we’ve all been excited about will in fact be a part of Paldean Fates!
The Iono Special Illustration rare card from Paldea Evolved is already one of the most valuable cards of the Sword and Shield era of Pokemon TCG so far. It only stands to reason that this Iono – which is arguably just as cool as that other, famous one – will be highly sought after by collectors once this pack hits the market!
