New meta changing cards and decks in Twilight Masquerade

While collectors will be looking for the top chase cards in Twilight Masquerade, players will be more excited about what new decks, strategies and cards will be shaking up the meta.

The most relevant new decks to watch are:

Dragapult ex

Dragapult ex

Dragpult ex: this deck has the most hype thanks to major victories in Japan already. It is likely going to be a top tier deck when it debuts around the world. You can see our guide on how to play this deck via our Dragapult ex deck list.

Iron Thorns ex with Future Iron Hands

Iron Thorns ex

Future Iron Hands with Iron Thorns ex: Iron Thorns ex has a powerful ability that shuts down the abilities of all non-Future Pokemon in play. This is going to be a massive enhancement for Future Pokemon decks to take advantage of.

Festival Grounds

Festival Grounds

Additionally, a powerful new deck that’s a little quircky but very themed around Twilight Masquerade specifically is the Festival Grounds deck. This deck sees cards that gained extra strength from abilities like “Festival Lead” and the Stadium “Festival Grounds,” and its key cards are Dipplin and Thwackey.

Twilight Masquerade Prereleases

Build and Battle Box

Twilight Masquerade Build and Battle

In addition to the new meta decks, you can get an early taste of the new cards in Twilight Masquerade and their strategies by attending a prerelease event. These start two weeks before the official launch date of the set, and can be attended at your local game shop.

What new ACE SPEC cards will be in Twilight Masquerade?

Last but not least, ACE SPEC cards made a huge splash in Temporal Forces, leaving many players wanting more. If you’re wondering which ACE SPEC cards are coming out int his set, you’re in luck! Get a preview of them below.

Unfair Stamp

Unfair Stamp has the potential to be a hugely popular card. With a similar ability as Roxanne or Iono, this card is certainly going to see play in competitive decks, forcing your opponent to try and keep the battle going with far less resources in your hand than you.

Survival Cast

Survival Cast has an insane ability that would prevent your Pokemon from getting OHKO. This would be particularly relevant to tech against powerful decks like Giratina VSTAR or Roaring Moon ex that love to take OHKOs!

Hyper Aroma

I’m not sure if I see a ton of decks taking advantage of this particular ACE SPEC, but it does have a handy ability, granting you easy access to all the Stage 1 Pokemon you would need in your line if you were to want to set up for an additional evolution later.

Secret Box

This card is pretty insane in that it lets you search your deck for not just one card but one of each: Item, Tool, Supporter and Stadium. However, it doesn’t let you search out any Pokemon, so that somewhat limits its effectiveness, and quite frankly most decks aren’t going to be able to stomach the three discard cost to play it.

Scoop Up Cyclone

Cards that enable you to “scoop” up Pokemon into your hand, removing all damage counters, are insanely popular and can be used to gain incredible strategic advantage. Whether or not people will be willing to play this card with so many other ACE SPEC Pokemon cards to choose from, however, is iffy. My thought is that this card will have a pretty niche appeal.

Legacy Energy

Last but not least we have Legacy Energy. This Energy acts as a rainbow energy, filling any cost type. In addition to this, it also makes it so your opponent takes one fewer Prize card when the attached Pokemon is knocked out. It’s the second ability that really stand out here, and when used wisely it could help you get ahead in the prize race early on.

Remember, you can only play one ACE SPEC card in your deck so while these all may sound amazing, they have to be extra amazing for players to want to take up their valuable ACE SPEC card slot.
