Shrouded Fable ETB: is it Worth the Wait?
Shrouded Fable had an unusually delayed ETB release date. Although the expansion itself was release on August 2, 2024, the ETB only comes out on August 23rd.
We had the chance to get one early and opened just to answer one question: is the Shrouded Fable ETB worth the wait?
The Shrouded Fable ETB packaging is on point
The first thing you’ll notice is that the packaging is unusually glossy with multiple different colors and textures going on that is visually grasping. These colors and tones help draw you into the irregular drama of the zany Loyal Three. It also accurately telegraphs several other aspects of this expansion.
For starters, the card mecahnics in this set are simiarlarly irregular. They are powerful, like the Flip the Script ability on Fezandipiti that single-handedly overturned the meta. Meanwhile, there’s a darker element to this expansion, like the Subjugating Chains ability that also took center stage at the 2024 Pokemon TCG World Championships partnered with Roaring Moon ex.
The accessories
Everything else follows the same pattern as the packaging, with the same neon highlights accentuated against the black backdrop meant to highlight the darker element of this delinquent trio.
While the Burn and Poison markers are surprisingly mundane given the poisonous aspect of Shrouded Fable. However, the dice don’t disappoint. In fact, I think they are among the more stylized we’ve seen in ETBs lately.
Meanwhile, the sleeves follow the same pattern as what you’ll see on the box only filled in with gray and featuring the Loyal Three themselves.
The Pulls
Last but not least, the pulls are, after all, what we are all here for. I was pretty excited about my pulls, getting one of the Legendary Three in Illustration Rare form (a card I thought was particularly gorgeous before pulling it myself). I also got the gorgeous Janine’s Secret Technique ultra Rare and a Double Rare Kingdra ex.
That’s a pretty nice haul from one small ETB!
The Verdict
This ETB lives up to the hype and is well worth the wait. It’s a gorgeous product with some excellent theming that will make you feel like you’re spending the day hunting Pokemon in Kitakami.
