The Best Online Pokemon TCG Tournaments to Try Right Now

If you enjoy playing Pokemon in person or on Pokemon TCG Live, then you should definitely check out one of the many awesome Pokemon tournaments happening on Limitless TCG.

Redacted Gaming Tournaments

Formerly known as Full Heal, Redacted Gaming hosts events in seasons, meaning that each time a major set is released it kicks off a new season. Players compete over a series of tournaments in order to earn enough points to make it into the invitation only final.

A few reasons you should give this tournament organizer a try:

  • Fantastic organizer and very speedy rounds with minimal delays.

  • Top-notch competition – I’ve often played against top Pokemon TCG players in the world on these tournaments.

  • Solid prizing

  • Lots of players but still a community feel.

Apart from those awesome reasons why you should give this tournament a try, the only draw back is that (as of last time I competed in one of their tournaments), Redacted gaming wasn’t offering prizes outside of code cards. While getting in game codes is a big draw for many, still others would prefer a cash prize or other physical renumeration.

Who are Redacted tournaments best for?

Redacted tournaments are best for competitive players looking to face off against top notch competition during a reasonable time frame. Their tournaments are much longer than the more casual tournaments out there, but not so long that you have to clear your whole day’s schedule in order to attend them.

Late Night Tournaments By the Shuffle Squad

The Shuffle Squad are a cool group of Pokemon players who put on these fantastic tournaments. As far as prestige goes in the online Pokemon TCG space, tournaments don’t get more prestigious than Late Night. But the name really is apropo because these tournaments are long and they go late. Additionally, Late Night tournaments sometimes hand out some pretty gnarly prizes. Earlier this year they were offering a chance to win a trip to the Pokemon World Championships in Japan.

Here’s a few reasons you might want to give Late Night Events a try:

  • Most prestigious online tournament

  • World class competition

  • Smooth organization and process

  • Good prizes and sometimes crazy good prizes

That being said, Late Night tournaments are really, really long. While Redacted Gaming hosts tournaments that feel like a League Cup (if you are familiar with Play! Pokemon tournaments), Late Night can feel more like attending a regional.

Tournament of Doom

What I like about Tournament of Doom is that their tournaments take place late Friday night after the day is done, unlike many Pokemon tournaments that take place in the earlier day or evening. Although this can be its own challenge (sleep fatigue while playing Pokemon can really get to you), it’s fun to have something to do that later at night when you don’t have other plans.

Tournament of Doom Limitless tournaments can also be quite competitive with plenty of Pokemon players looking to dish it out and claim their spot as the very best. The tournaments are well organized and run very smoothly.

Deck Out Gaming Tournaments

Last but not least, Deck Out Gaming tournaments can be really good for people who really like chasing prizes. Their tournaments offer a lot of code prizes, and they also often have tournaments where players can complete for store credit to Deck Out Gaming’s store – with free entry!

For more casual tournaments, Deck Out Gaming also has their Monday casual tournament play which doesn’t have the top cut final rounds and instead players just compete for points in the swiss rounds.

Whatever tournament you choose to attend, Limitless is the best place to go to see what’s up, and online tournaments are a great alternative to in person events for people who like the convenience of playing Pokemon at home. Personally, I find playing Pokemon online to be even more fun than in person at the competitive level, as the software handles a lot of the minutia of dealing with cards over and over again. But to each their own!
