Lorcana: Archazia’s Island Spoilers
Slated for a March 7, 2025 release date, Archazia’s Island is already making waves in the Lorcana comunity thanks to leaked info surrounding the new cards and mechanics coming out in this set.
Below, we’ll be diving into everything revealed about Lorcana’s seventh set including spoilers, card reveals, products and more!
Archazia’s Island is all about pets
Like any Lorcana set, a large cast of Disney characters will be reimagined for the card game in this set. However, Archazia’s Island appears to focus specifically on pets: characters who are ever present in Disney films even though they may not always get the most attention.
What kind of pets will be included in this set?
While undoubtedly we’ll know more in time, already we have a whiff of pet characters like Lady from Lady and the Tramp, Bolt, Iago, and even Mushu given his inclusion on the artwork from the trove.
Dual Ink types confirmed
Apart from the inclusion of new properties, the biggest new mechanic confirmed to be included in Archazia’s Island are dual Ink type cards. Lorcana fans have been theorizing for a while that eventually dual Ink cards would come into the game, and potentially bring with them some new mechanics that would help spice things up.
However, for these cards to be really impactful on deck building, they’ll need to be pretty strong, helping offset the balance of a pretty solidified metagame. Regardless, this is the first time a mechanic of this magnitude has been introduced into the game probably since Locations were added into the game in Into the Inklands, making it big news for Lorcana fans everywhere.
A new keyword revealed
Finally, before getting into the card reveals, it has been confirmed that we are getting a new keyword in this set. This keyword is called Vanish: a new ability that enables a character to banish themselves when chosen by an action.
This keyword does seem a little odd given the current meta game as there aren’t many scenarios where banishing a character would be better than letting them be chosen by an action. However, given the text available in the Jafar card, it’s quite likely some new strategies will be cooked into the cards found in Archazia’s Island that will impact this.
Archazia’s Island card spoilers
Now for the main event: new cards! Below, let’s look at the new cards confirmed to be a part of Archazia’s Island.
Beast – Frustrated Designer
Beast here contains both the Ruby and Sapphire colors, which most likely means that he can be included in any deck that contains one of these colors. The theming here is on point: combining Sapphire’s focus on items with Ruby’s love of dishing out damage.
That being said, this card doesn’t feel the most impactful. For starters, despite having a solid collection of stats, his six-cost unInkable will prohibit him from being included in most decks, especially when you could simply just drop a Dragon Fire for instant banishment.
That being said, the design of this cards is stupendous, with blues and reds to match the dual Ink nature of this new card.
Belle – Mechanic Extraordinaire
A much stronger Ruby/Sapphire dual Ink character to be revealed is Belle – Mechanic Extraordinaire. There’s a pretty well-established retinue of Belle inventor characters in Lorcana, but this Belle feels like the strongest of them so far. This Belle could potentially replace Tomatoa in Sapphire builds that love to ramp items and gain lore. Indeed, if you manage to shift this character and quest in the same turn, you basically gain six lore.
This Belle feels very, very strong and I’m sure many players would like to give her a shot in their decks.
Lady – Miss Park Avenue
Archazia’s Island is promised to be about pets, and that’s evidenced here by the inclusion of a nice looking Lady Floodborn character. While this card likely won’t see play because it’s an unInkable, theoretically it’s an interesting card for aggro decks that could benefit from having low cost characters returned to the hand to be played again.
Sven Keen-Eyed Reindeer
The nice thing about this Sven (also a pet technically) is that he’s Inkable. While that makes him easier to include in decks, there’s not a lot else enticing here. While the six will power stat is nice in a Rush character, having only two strength means he’s not going to be taking anything particularly tough out when he rushes in.
Jafar – Newly Crowned
The Jafar – Newly Crowned character seems to pair with the soon to be released “Vanish” keyword. It seems a little odd that a card with such a specific ability would be dual Ink as surely there’s one line of characters that it will be working best with. But there you have it. Regardless, it will be cool to try out the Illusion-themed deck when it comes out in the starter decks for set seven.
Iago – Giant Spectral Parrot
So given this characters is an Illusion character, does that make Iago a pet in theme with Archazia’s Island or something else? This is the best look we’ve gotten of the character bearing the new “Vanish” keyword, and it will also be included in one of the starter decks for the set.
I’m hoping that the Vanish keyword unlocks some super interesting combos because otherwise there’s simply not a whole lot going on for this particular character.
Archazia’s Island products
For the most part, Archazia’s Island offers a similar range of products as any regular Lorcana set. However, the newest product getting released with this set is the gift box featuring Lilo and Stitch.
Archazia's Island Gift Box
-
• 1 Lilo - Escape Artist Alternate Art promo card with artwork by Grace Tran
• 1 Card Storage Box
• Card Dividers
• 5 random booster packs from Disney Lorcana sets 2-6.
While the card storage box and unique divders are a nice touch, assuredly the main draw of this product will be the alternate border Lilo card. These alternate boarder cards are pretty intriguing and are popping up in the latest Lorcana products, like the red boarder Costco exclusive promo.
One major draw of this promo, however, is that it’s of a very popular card. Players will undoubtedly seek this product out in droves so they can upgrade their Lilo cards with the cooler alternate art/boarder card.
This is actually one of the more exciting standalone products to come out from Lorcana in a while and it’s also interesting to note that the contents include an assortment of booster packs not just Archazia’s Island.
Archazia’s Island Single-Player Deck
The starter decks have already been somewhat spoiled (at least the cover cards). The Amethyst Steel will undoubtedly lean into the new Illusion/Vanish mechanic that we’ve seen both cards include. However, that particular Ink combination has to content with the Amethyst/Steel deck from Rise of the Floodborn which is arguably the best Lorcana starter deck to date.
As intriguing as it is to think about what strategies taht starter deck might include, the Sapphire/Ruby starter deck is equally interesting as that combo makes up one of the best Lorcana decks in the game. How will they innovate such an established Ink combo? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see, but the Belle spoiler looks promising to say the least.
Archazia’s Island Trove
As always, Troves tend to be my favorite Lorcana product. They include just the right number of packs to get a good flavor for the set, along with neat things like special dice, and a storage box to put everything in.
Archazia’s Island Booster Box
Finally, Booster Boxes are best for players and collectors who want to open a lot of packs for the best price point. If you really enjoy deck building it might be worth your time to pick up a few of these boxes so you can really get a feel for the newest strategies and cards in the game.
More spoilers coming February 10, 2025
