Lorcana: Shimmering Skies Spoilers and Card List

The fifth Lorcana set has been officially revealed as Shimmering Skies. Just like the previous Lorcana sets, the spoilers season (when Lorcana creator Ravensburger slowly leaks cards to the public via official channels, creators and media outlets) is upon us just weeks after the full release of the last set.

I’ve been gathering the officially revealed spoilers from across the web since Lorcana’s second set. These Lorcana spoiler lists tend to be quite popular with my readers. However, this set, I’m making some changes. Unlike last sets where I reviewed every single card, this time, I’m just going to be making broader comments on the cards per Ink type. Meanwhile, cards that really stand out are going to be included in the best Shimmering Skies cards guide as well as getting called out in the weekly update section.

Lorcana Shimmering Skies Spoilers Updates – Week of July 29, 2024

With just one full week left of spoilers, Ravensburger revealed all cards in Shimmering Skies’s main set (not including Enchanted rares). Let’s look at some of the most exciting ones below.

Minnie Mouse – Drum Major 15/204

Minnie Mouse – Drum Major 15/204

Overlook this particular mouse at your own Peril. Minnie Mouse has a powerful card search ability that could help make things more interesting, enabling you to search for that particular character you need just when you need it.

Mother Gothel – Unwavering Schemer 92/204

Mother Gothel –Unwavering Schemer 92/204

This card’s artwork is a total vibe. Apart from that, she’s really good – sort of like a Floodborn Lady Tremaine but for Emerald. By forcing your opponent to choose a character to return to the hand, you circumvent the Ward capability. That’s a strong and compelling ability for a card with also powerful stats. The fact that she’s Inkable only serves to make her even more compelling.

Vision of the Future 160/204

Vision of the Future 160/204

It doesn’t surprise me that Merlin’s Floodborn Glimmer would be featured on this card given how prominently he was featured in the trailer leading up to Shimmering Skies. What does surprise me, however, is how strong this card is. It’s a lot like Develop Your brain – a card that’s seen a lot of play – only it lets you search the top five cards of your deck instead of only two.

I think this is a pretty compelling card, although given it is two-cost players might still prefer the one-cost Develop Your Brain.

Lorcana Shimmering Skies Spoilers Update – Week of July 22

Shimmering Skies card reveals are continuing at a rapid pace. See the latest and greatest below.

Mirabel Madrigal – Family Gatherer – Set Championship Promo

Shimmering Skies Set Championship Promo

While you won’t be pulling this Enchanted from a pack, you can win it in the Shimmering Skies Set Championship. Ravensburger announced next seasons’s Set Championship Promo via ComicBook.com and also made a pretty stellar change to these championships moving forward. Now, instead of only the top four getting an Enchanted promo, the top eight will be going home with one. This makes more sense as getting top eight is such an achievement at these relatively large events that more players will be incentivized to compete. Ultimately, this will make set championships more popular than ever.

Prince John 98/204

Given Emerald’s insane dominance over the meta since Ursula’s Return, many eyes will be watching for what’s to come next for the Ink type. Already, there’s a ton of hype around this card with some saying it is unplayable and others saying it is the next worse thing for the game since Bucky.

My guess? It’s somewhere in-between – a card that will be helpful in some decks but not altogether game-breaking. It certainly highlights a path forward for the Emerald/Steel discard strategy in the absence of the infamous squirrel.

Magica De Spell – Cruel Sorceress 53/204

Magica De Spell – Cruel Sorceress 53/204

A rare, four-cost character like this could easily slip under the radar if not for one thing: her “Playing with Power” ability that makes her absolutely broken in Amethyst decks. Right now, Amethyst decks have a ton of trouble dealing with Emerald decks that like to discard your hand before you can build up resources. Assuming discard remains a prominent strategy post Shimmering Skies, this card could easily make it into just about every Amethyst deck in the game.

Arthur – King Victorious 194/204

Arthur – King Victorious 194/204

As intriguing as this card is, a seven-cost uninkable character is a tall order for anyone. This one probably doesn’t have the power it needs to be playable in most decks. But it’s still a cool card to highlight because it does have an impressive collection of stats and abilities and ties in really well with the theming of Shimmering Skies as a whole.

Tipo – Growing Son 157/204

Tipo – Growing Son 157/204

Tipo – Growing Son is another unassuming card that could actually be pretty good. The only other card that’s similar to this one with ramp capabilities at cost two is Gramma Tala. However, that Gramma Tala only gets added to your Inkwell when she is banished. Tipo activites his ramping capabilities when played, making him very attractive to anyone running a Sapphire ramp deck.

Lorcana Shimmering Skies Spoilers – Week of July 15, 2024

There were an insane number of spoilers revealed this week, and many of them are noteworthy.

The most important to highlight is the reveal of an entirely new Disney property being released in the upcoming set, and that is Brother Bear. While not the most popular film of all time, Lorcana fans are always eager to have additional IPs included in the expansion. That being the case, I’m a little surprised that the announcment wasn’t made earlier on as it was in previous sets.

Apart from Bother Bear, Lorcana also released a group of cards (one for each Ink type) called the Chromicons. Undoubtedly these items have something to do with the lore that we still don’t know a ton about in Shimmering Skies.

Also, a cool looking new Snow White knight card and her supporting Seven Dwarf cards were released earlier this week (which feels like years ago given how many spoilers we’ve gotten). While the Snow White/Seven Dwarf synergy from past sets never took off competitively, it’s interesting to see a different and unique take on this relationships represented in these new knight-themed cards.

Last but not least, Ravensburger broke from form this spoiler season by releasing an Enchanted card ahead of schedule. Typically we wouldn’t get a look at these type of cards until very close to the set’s release. However, here we have our first Shimmering Skies Enchanted

Donald Duck – Pie Slinger 214/204

You can read our guide to Shimmering Skies to learn what you need to know about the set, and see the latest set five spoilers sorted by Ink type in the galleries below! Additionally, we’ll be highlighting specific, noteworthy cards so you can get more insights into what will and won’t matter when the next Lorcana set launches!

Snow White – Fair-Hearted 183/204

Snow White – Fair-Hearted 183/204

While this card features some intruguing artwork and a cool concept, there are a few things that fall a little short. First of all, Snow White – Fair-Hearted is a less intriguing card from an artwork perspective than the already released Snow White – Well Wisher card. Secondly, while this Snow White card has some decent stats, the stacking Resist ability will only be so effective in a meta that loves to straight up banish characters just as often as banishing them.

I don’t see her being played much in decks that aren’t going straight for the Snow White – Seven Dwarves theme.

Merlin’s Cottage – The Wizard’s Home 170/204

Merlin’s Cottage – The Wizard’s Home 170/204

Merlin’s Cottage has an intriguing ability that has synergy with cards like the Sorcerer’rs Hat item that never saw a ton of play. However, what would make this card significantly more interesting and likely to be played (just like any other location) is if it also had at least one lore value.

ED – Hysterical Partygoer 81/204

ED – Hysterical Partygoer 81/204

The last card from the latest round of card reveals is ED one of the best parts of Bucky getting erased from the competitive meta is that people might actually start leveraging some of the other excellent things Emerald has to offer, specifically around damage ping. Damage ping decks are getting a massive upgrade in Shimmering Skies, and ED could work really well in those decks, blocking opponents from challenging it while it gains impressive lore each turn.

Amethyst Chromicon 66/204

Amethyst Chromicon 66/204

The Amethyst Chromicom seems like the strongest of the bunch, letting you gain a significant card advantage over your opponent without paying a cost.

Tropical Rainforest – Jaguar Lair 102/204

Tropical Rainforest stands out in this set’s locations thanks to the fact that it actually grants lore passively. Apart from that, its ability can be very strong in damage ping decks that appear to be getting a significant buff. The only downside of this otherwise fantastic location is that its relatively weak will power puts it in range of Maui.

Highlights from previously revealed Shimmering Skies Cards

Daisy Duck – Donald’s Date 16/204

For aggro decks, this Daisy Duck card is a big deal. To date, the cards with one cost and two lore like this one have been in every single deck. However, this card gives a massively more powerful weapon to aggro’s arsenal. Having a will power of four is absolutely bonkers, meaning that you finally have a way to withstand cheap shots from Steel (the main reason this deck wasn’t playable).

This card singlehandedly raises aggro’s potential to be playable next set, and every Amber aggro deck should run it.

Mufasa

Mufasa – Ruler of Pride Rock 150204

Mufasa – Ruler of Pride Rock was revealed today and this card has some serious power. Four lore value, and insane will power stat, enough strength to make it viable, and a powerful collection of abilities that interact with the Inkwell in a way we haven’t seen before makes this a card players will be very, very excited about.

Will it actually make a splash competitively? It’s hard to say. It is uninkable meaning people will have to fit it into their already busy decks. On top of that, returning two Ink to the hand from your Inkwell can be a painful thing at the wrong part of the game. It takes an entire turn to see payout from that cost, making Mufasa likely more of a liability than an asset.

Amber cards

Apart from some interesting mechanics getting introduced into Amber this set, the strongest buffs appear to be for Amber aggro decks. Players who choose to wield aggro will be grateful for the likes of Daisy Duck – Donald’s Date and the new Mirabel five lore character who is also the Shimmering Skies Enchanted Promo.

Amethyst cards

Amethyst is getting some pretty strong buffs in this set, which maybe will help this deck be seen more frequently than just in the Ruby/Amethyst rendition. Cards like Elsa – The Fifth Spirit are quite strong as is the new Magica card that prevents your hand from being utterly demolished.

Emerald cards

All eyes will be on Emerald this set given the Ink types dominance over the game with a meta share hovering somewhere around 50%. It’s quite likely that the Ink type will drop in popularity after recent changes to the game, but you never know. The most interesting strategy to gain new cards in this set are the damage ping deck. With Emerald/Steel less overwhelming, perhaps more players will try that strategy out after August when the set releases.

Ruby cards

There are many interesting cards getting added to Ruby this set. However, that Ink type is already full of powerful cards, and so far the ones revealed this set feel more like niche scenario cards than game-changers.

Sapphire cards

After a little bit of downtime for Sapphire, the deck is going to be getting some massive buffs this set with the most notable being Merlin – Intellectual Visionary. This card lets you search your deck for any card – an effect that is meta-breaking in other card games when it is introduced into the game.

Steel cards

Steel doesn’t need much added help right now as it is a very dominate Ink type, but it gets added help in the form of Tug-of-War and a new Snow White/Seven Dwarf Knight combo that looks intriguing.

Shimmering Skies Enchanted Cards

The only thing consistent in Ravensburger’s approach to Enchanted cards might just be this: expect the unexpected. Colors abound in these Enchanted cards, most of which you can find in packs (assuming you get lucky enough). Meanwhile, you’ll have to duke it out in a Shimmering Skies Set Championship if you want the Mirabel Madrigal one. Don’t worry, though: top eight gets a promo now so your chances are better than ever.

Lorcana Shimmering Skies – Products and Preorders

While it’s exciting to see what the latest and greatest cards are in Shimmering Skies, the best way to get these cards is to get your hands one of the many excellent sealed products coming out in the next set.

Here’s a first hand look at the most important Shimmering Skies products you should know about coming out in August, and links to preorder.

Shimmering Skies Booster Box

Here’s a first look at the Shimmering Skies Booster Box. From the looks of the box, nothing is crazy new here. Indeed, most of these characters revealed on the box have also been revealed via the Lorecast that announced the new set (I’m sure that’s not a coincidence).

Booster Boxes are best for seasoned players who want the best odds of pulling the cards they need to build the decks they want while paying the lowest possible price per pack of any other Lorcana product.

While your actual experience opening booster boxes will vary, I got very lucky with my booster box from Ursula’s Return, pulling just about everything I needed for my decks from a single box, and also bagging an Enchanted!

Shimmering Skies Ilumineer’s Trove

Not gonna lie – this Trove looks gorgeous. It has a much more simplistic design than previous boxes and really focuses on the whole “Shimmering Skies” angle. Meanwhile the Lore Counter appreas to be very similar to the one we saw in the Ursula’s Return Trove while the dice have a shimmering aspect (as revealed in the Lorecast).

I see Ravensburger made the astute decision to return to color-coded organizers as opposed to the organizers that encouraged you to separate your cards by rarity. I never used those but have found the color-coded ones to be quite helpful indeed.

Although booster boxes are your best bet for pulling the most cards, Troves are my all around favorite Lorcana product because they come with plenty of goodies and are quite beautiful. I’ve also been very, very lucky with my pulls from Troves so that helps.

Shimmering Skies Starter Decks

Shimmering Skies Starter Decks

Starter decks are typically very popular products, especially early on when a set releases. In fact, entire tournaments are held featuring these starter decks where players get to customize them with a few added packs and duke it out in battle.

What’s noteworthy in these decks, however, is the fact that the Ink combinations chosen for these starter decks are well aligned with the actual Lorcana meta decks doing well at competitions.

Does that mean that these starter decks will be stronger or more competitively viable than previous starter decks have been? Probably not. Undoubtedly they will be more of the same.

That being said, my early money is on the Ruby/Amethyst deck given it has the awe-inspiring Elsa – The Fifth Spirit in it.
