10 Most Valuable Cards in Pokemon TCG: Obsidian Flames, Ranked
10 Most Valuable Cards in Pokemon Obsidian Flames, Ranked
10. Pidgey - 207/197 - SV03:
Let’s start this list with a Pokemon that should be pretty familiar to most Pokemon fans. While we love pidgey and all, it’s not like anyone’s favorite Pokemon is Pidgey. But I can see why Pokemon company went with this particular Pokemon to co-star with Charizard. After all, if a set has a Charizard in it (one of the most valuable Pokemon cards in general), you don’t exactly need a backup Pokemon to sell packs.
That being said, we have a found spot for Pidgey in our hearts. Additionally, I don’t know if you caught the reference in this particular illustrator rare, but it’s direclty calling out the experience most of us have had of catching Pidgey pretty much the moment we left Pallet town on Route 01.
All-in-all, this is a pretty cool card, and definitely worth adding to your collection.
9. Pidgeot ex
Every now and again, there comes along a card that has such a disproportionately large impact on the Pokemon TCG standard meta that it’s worth a decent amount for its strategic ability, not because of its inherent rareness of popularity.
Pidgeot ex is one of those cards. You can read more about it on our guide to the best strategy cards from Obsidian Flames.
8. Pidgeot ex - 217/197 - SV03 Ultra Rare
For whatever reason, the rarer version of Pidgeot ex isn’t worth more than the regular old version. We’re gonna put it higher up in the list here, however, because it will probably be worth a little more as time goes by. Probably.
7. Geeta - 226/197 - SV03 Special Illustration Rare
Finally we get to leave the Pidgey territory for a little while, and focus on the only supporter card to make the top 10 most valuable cards in Obsidian Flames list. Geeta must not be the most popular trainer in the world, because she’s not worth nearly as much as the top supporter in Paldea Evolved. Still, we really like this card. You really get drawn into this thoughtful moment Geeta appears to be having, complete with her books she’s delicately reading.
6. Ninetales -199/197 - SV03 – Illustration Rare
Moving on up the list, we’ve finally arrived at what is our personal favorite – the Ninetails Illustration Rare! Ninetails is definitely on our list of top favorite Pokemon of all time, and this is the most beautiful rendition of the Pokemon that we’ve ever seen.
I’d love to get one of these in the wild. If I ever did, I’d certainly keep it.
5. Pidgeot ex - 225/197 - SV03
This Pidgeot ex special illustrator rare is certainly one of the coolest in the set, and we love the callout to route 18 in Kanto. It may be only fifth most valuable, but to us, it’s easily up there vying fro first when it comes to the most impressive artwork.
4. Charizard ex - SV03
It’s not everyday that a relatively common card like this ends up near the top of the list. Then again, it’s not everyday that new sets are released with dark-type Charizard. In the past, dark type Charizard Pokemon cards have faired very well monetarily. Whether that is the case here remains to be seen. But hype in general around Charizard is no doubt aiding this card in retaining such a strong price tag.
The other thing helping this Charizard card stay valuable is that it’s also one of the strongest decks in the meta right now.
3. Charizard ex - 215/197 - SV03 – Ultra Rare
For an ultra rare Charizard card, $30 isn’t very expensive. This card could very well retain it’s value quite well overtime, and it’s a cool looking card.
Charizard ex - 228/197 Hyper Rare
Somewhat ironically, this hyper rare version of Charizard ex isn’t worth much more than regular ol’ ultra rare. It’s probably largely due to preference. In our opinion, the Charizard ultra rare does look a little nicer. Although the gold effect here is kind of cool, too.
1. Charizard ex - 223/197 - SV03
Surprised? This epic looking Charizard takes the number one spot on this list. And given its current price tag, we would encourage you to think about purchasing it for your collection if you are at all interested. As Charizard cards tend to do well overtime in regards to value, I don’t think $90 is a bad price. Of course, the singles market is always risky.
This artwork combined with the unique typing and Tera form, however, make this card highly collectible.
