Pokemon GO: Catch a Detective Hat Pikachu Starting October 5
Pokemon is celebrating the new Pokemon Switch game, Detective Pikachu Returns, by making it possible for us to complete Detective Pikachu themed Timed Research and catch extra rare, extra shiny Pokemon!
The Detective Pikachu Returns Pokemon GO Event is happening October 5, 2023 at 10:00am to October 9, 2023 at 8:00pm. Here’s what you can get!
What Pokemon Can You Catch During the Event?
This event is pretty exciting thanks to how many Pokemon you will be able to catch.
Here’s the list below:
Pikachu wearing a detective hat (and shiny variants)
Growlithe (and shiny variants)
Slowpoke wearing a hat (and shiny variants)
Alolan Exeggutor (shiny)
Magikarp (shiny)
Xatu
Bellossom
Lotad (shiny
Chimecho (shiny)
Bronzor (shiny)
Ducklett
Cutiefly
Falinks
To us, the Pikachu with the detective hat and the shiny Magikarp are the most exciting, and we’ll certainly be doing our best to catch ‘em all!
You Can Also Catch Pokemon Via Field Research Encounters
During the event, as you race to complete your Detective Pikachu themed research challenges, you’ll also get the chance to catch a few additional Pokemon. Those are:
Sudowoodo (shiny)
Snivy (shiny)
Rowlet
What About Event Bonuses?
Of course, a Pokemon GO event wouldn’t be a Pokemon GO event without a few added incentives. During the event, if you snapshots, you’ll get a surprise encounter with Pikachu wearing a detective hat, making it even easier for you to ensure you get at least a few Detective Pikachus.
Additionally, you’ll get double the XP for spinning Poke Stops – so make sure you’re somewhere with plenty of those while hunting for Pokemon.
Detective Pikachu Returns Event and Timed Research
Last but not least, trainers can complete a timed research event focused on tracking down a “Pokemon of Interest” Detective Pikachu style. But don’t delay! You must complete the entire quest and claim your rewards by the end of the event!
Our Thoughts on the Detective Pikachu Returns Pokemon GO Event
Although we found plans for the Community Day event this month slightly lackluster, this awesome Detective Pikachu event sounds absolutely fantastic. That long list of shiny Pokemon (especially the detective hat Pikachu and Magikarp) combined with special research tasks and rewards is enough to get any Pokemon GO fan’s heart racing.
You definitely won’t want to miss this fantastic event.
Things are certainly not slowing down for Pokemon GO even after an incredible 7 years. Stay tuned for more later this month as we head into Halloween!
