Pokemon TCG: Prize Pack Series Five Chase Cards and List

Pokemon TCG Prize Pack series five packs have dropped and they look gorgeous! I got to experience them myself last night at league play. These are especially cool for players excited to get stamped cards into their decks featuring more recent cards from the Scarlet & Violet era of Pokemon TCG.

Prize Pack Series Five

What’s so great about prize packs?

Prize packs tend to be more popular with players than collectors. You can only get them by going to official Pokemon league events that are typically focused on League or competitive play.

The Pokemon players I know (myself included) tend to go pretty crazy for a foil stamped card. These stamps, by the way, are the official Pokemon Play stamp, setting them apart from their unstamped counterparts you get in regular packs. Rare Foil cards also have a special galaxy foil pattern which you won’t find in packs, either.

Sometimes, these stamped cards can also be quite valuable depending on how popular the card is. For example, the Umbreon VMAX prize pack card fetches well over $100 on secondary marketplaces.

Prize Pack Series Five Chase Cards

What are the top cards from Prize Pack Series Five? While we don’t yet know their market values, we do know the complete Prize Pack Series Five card list.

From this, we can take an educated guess which the most valuable are going to be based on how popular the cards are both with players and collectors.

#1 Prime Catcher is the top chase from Prize Pack Series Five

Prize Packs are unique among Pokemon card packs as they are aimed primarily at players and not a combination of players and collectors. With that in mind, it’s pretty clear that Prime Catcher – arguably the single strongest card in the game across any deck – will be the most expensive chase card in Prize Pack Series Five. If you pull this from one of your prize packs, slap that puppy in a protective sleeve and top loader. Or just put it in your deck – you do you.

#2 Mew ex

Another card that’s used across many, many decks thanks to its versatility is the Mew ex card. Restart gives you a powerful fallback draw engine without having to deal with evolving, while Genome Hacking is a powerful attack to have in your back pocket. My guess would be this will be the second most valuable card from the series, closely behind Prime Catcher.

#3 Raging Bolt ex

Raging Bolt ex is a powerful and popular archetype in the Pokemon TCG standard format. Justifiably, this powerful dragon type attacker is going to be very popular and relatively valuable.

#4 Counter Catcher

Keeping in theme with cards that are widely used, Counter Catcher isn’t nearly as powerful as Prime Catcher, but it’s still a strong item card that is especially powerful in decks that don’t need to come out the gate firing (like Charizard ex).

I doubt Counter Catcher will hold up a ton of value overtime but it still should be one of the more popular foil cards from the set.

#5 Earthen Vessel

Earthen Vessel is a largely used card because of how versatile it is, letting you bring any two basic energies from your deck and add them into your hand. That’s a pretty crazy effect and, once again, almost every deck can use it. The foil version of this card should be pretty valuable, especially in the first few months of Prize Pack Series Five release.
