The 7 Best Places to Eat at Disneyland in 2023
In this list, we’re going to be sharing an inside look at the best places to eat at Disneyland, giving you some of our tips and tricks to make sure you get that special, enjoyable experience you are hoping for.
7. The Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe
I wouldn’t consider any trip to Disneyland complete without a special visit to the Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe. It has arguably the best view of any eating spot in the entire park (full frontal view of the iconic Disneyland Castle) and a roster of scrumptious treats that will make you come back for more.
While the food is also good (look into their sandwiches, particularly) what really makes this location shine is its desert food and (for me) hot chocolate.
The Jolly Holiday is best enjoyed late, late at night while the park is thinning out, enabling you easy opportunity to grab a table and enjoy some great sights and sounds.
6. Carnation Cafe
The Carnation Cafe is fantastic more for its location and atmosphere than for its food. In fact, I don’t terribly recall what I had last time I was there (I think it was a French Dip tritip sandwhich) but I do remember how absolutely fantastic it was to eat on Main Street USA and enjoy a break from the hustle and bustle.
The Carnation Cafe is certainly worth the effort to eat at, and I’ve managed to snag a spot on the walk-up list (during off season).
5. Tiana’s Palace
Although we loved the French Market before it, we agree that Tiana’s Palace is a welcome, themed addition to New Orleans Square, bringing with it a nice update to its somewhat dated predecessor. The menu feels like authentic southern cuisine – though we will miss our favorite – the shrimp po’boy sandwich!
Tiana’s Palace just opened recently, but you can read our review on it.
4. Red Rose Tavern
Another eating spot that people tend to forget about is the Red Rose Tavern. It’s hidden towards the end of Fantasy Land, and it’s probably the most themed and beautiful eating spot of them all (save the Blue Bayou). The breakfast here is the real selling point – it’s delicious and incredibly affordable by Disneyland standards. What’s more, it’s not particularly busy, so you can certainly find easy seating here during the off season.
Red Rose Tavern offers counter service and mobile ordering. Your best bet here is to mobile order.
3. Tropical Hideaway
This might feel like a bit of a curveball, but in reality it shouldn’t. Too often people take this for granted, but the Tropical Hideaway is sort of the Blue Bayou of Adventure Land. After all, you’re conveniently situated not only outside the back door of the Tiki Room, but within viewing distance of the boats of Adventure Land. Sitting right near Rosita, the AWOL Tiki Room bird, grants you the full experience. What’s more, unlike most other counter service in the park, the Tropical Hideaway doesn’t do mobile ordering (yet). While this can be good or bad depending on the line, it does mean that you can find pockets in the day when very few people are actually there.
Okay – we’ve talked plenty about the ambiance but is the food any good? The Bao certainly is. It’s some of the better Bao we’ve had and we’ve had plenty. Of course, if you are a lover of Dole Whip then you also really shouldn’t have any further to look.
2. The Blue Bayou
Given its unique ambiance and amazing Monte Cristo Sandwich, it’s hard to deny the charms of The Blue Bayou. However, in recent years, it’s been incredibly difficult to land reservations there for whatever reason, so we are giving it second place here . A great restaurant should be as accessible as it is beautiful and delicious, but if you are lucky enough to grab a spot, you’ll be glad that you did.
1. Cafe Orleans
All around, Cafe Orleans is your best bet for a sit down dining experience in Disneyland. It’s not nearly as hard to get into as the Blue Bayou, and it’s just as good, with their very own Monte Cristo Sandwich and bottomless mint juleps. That being said, you’re still going to need to plan ahead to get in. Book reservations as far in advance as the app will let you.
During non peak travel, we’ve gotten away with booking our reservation the morning of. While they probably will just sit you wherever, if you can manage to get a seat inside, you’ll be glad. The inside of Cafe Orleans has probably the classiest look of all the sit down restaurants.
