Shrouded Fable Special Illustration Collection Review
In Pokemon TCG: Shrouded Fable, Pokemon is continuing what they started in the Twilight Masquerade expansion by focusing on the island of Kitakami and its strange, unique Pokemon, trainers and traditions. Below, get an early look at what these awesome products look like and some of the pulls I got from my two boxes.
What’s so cool about the Special Illustration Collection Boxes?
Available in the new Special Illustration Collection boxes, these boxes prominently feature gorgeous artworks that are very similar to the Special Illustration Rare cards that typically are the most valuable from any given Pokemon TCG set.
However, cards with Special Illustration artworks are typically very, very hard to pull, making them often quite valuable. For the first time, cards with this sort of artwork are available directly out of the box!

What is the Greninja ex Special Illustration Collection?
Premium Collections are products that typically get released along with special sets. Often, they are among the best and most collectible sealed Pokemon TCG Products.
This product includes a total of five booster packs and three promo cards, with one of those three promos being the Special Illustration-like artwork.
Why should you be excited about this Greninja ex?
Despite the fact that Pokemon is astutely leaning into the most sought after cards in their game right now (Special Illustration Rares), it’s important to note that this Greninja ex isn’t actually an SIR and doesn’t come with the same sort of price tag or prestige. What makes SIR Pokemon cards so valuable is how incredibly hard they are to pull. Like, really, really hard.
This Greninja ex is going to be available pretty widely in these boxes so it’s not nearly the same thing.
Will the Promos be worth anything?
That being said, it doesn’t mean that the Greninja ex will necessarily be worthless. Other cards that were released similarly featuring artworks of beloved Pokemon have actually fared quite well overtime. For example, the Vaporeon V promo from the Sword and Shield Era of Pokemon is worth over $40 today, and that was available in a limited print box very similar to this one.
The Kingdra ex Promo is also gorgeous
The other Special Illustration Box worth watching is the gorgeous Kingdra ex box. I’m not sure which is going to be the more desired box between the two. I believe Greninja is likely the more popular Pokemon but I think the Kingdra ex card is even more gorgeous. Kingdra is also looking like it could even be playable with an ability that works similar to Chien-Pao ex.

Is the Shrouded Fable Special Collection worth it?
The Shrouded Fable Special Illustration Collection boxes are going to be a very hot commodity when this special set releases in early August. Given you get guaranteed gorgeous cards with them, and several packs from this hot new set, it’s quite apparant that this is a product worth the cost.
