All Disney Villainous Expansions Ranked from Worst to Best

Disney Villainous Expansions Ranked

7. Evil Comes Prepared

Villainous Expansions

Characters: Scar, Yzma, Ratigan

Evil Comes Prepared is actually the first Villainous I was introduced to, and Scar was the first character I ever played as. However, there are far more fun characters to play, and far stronger ones than those in here. In reality, this is a relatively forgettable expansion, with Scar being far too weak to play against the stronger characters out there, and Yzmia being far too vanilla.

Ratigan, however, is a bright spot of this expansion, and he can actually be quite good.

6. Bigger and Badder

Characters: Syndrome, Lotso, Madam Mim

Perhaps the biggest issue with this expansion is simply the lack of bankable characters. I mean, you have Syndrome leading the way I suppose, and he’s from a famous movie. But he’s not really a groundbreaking villain that we love. Gameplay wise, however, this set is fantastic, and works as a good entry point to those new to the game, as well.

5. Despicable Plots

Disney Villainous Expansions Ranked

Characters: Gaston, The Horned King, Lady Tremaine

Just to be clear, all Disney Villainous expansions are fun. Despicable Plots is no exception. To me, this game felt like game creator Ravensburger were really letting loose in order to explore new game mechanics. I really enjoyed playing the Horned King from the vastly underrated Black Cauldron. However, admittedly like mother Gothel, the Horned King is pretty hard to win playing as. Gaston felt much stronger.

4. Perfectly Wretched

Characters: Cruella De Vil, Mother Gothel, Pete

Perfectly Wretched doesn’t have the strongest characters in it, but it’s a super fun expansion. Mother Gothel is my favorite from this one. She’s not practical to play from a competitive standpoint, but getting her mechanics to workout makes the wins you do get all the more thrilling.

The strongest villain in this one is probably Cruella De Vil, but even she’s nothing compared to the Evil Queen or Maleficent. Still, this set was a ton of fun to play, and definitely worth picking up especially if you’re a more casual Villainous character.

3. Filled with Fright

Best Villainous Expansions

Character: Oogie Boogie

What Filled with Fright lacks in quantity it makes up in spades in quality. It’s the first expansion with just one character featured in it, and that character is Oogie Boogie. And why not? Oogie Boogie himself has a cult following and a festival in his honor at Disney California Adventure. The expansion is a ton of fun, and Oogie Boogie is easily one of the strongest characters in the Disney Villainous games right now.

2. Wicked to the Core

Characters: The Evil Queen, Hades, Dr Facilier

If you really like to play competatively, Wicked to the Core is a lot of fun. It has the characters I enjoy playing the most, and they strike the right balance between complex and straightforward. The biggest highlight from this expansion is also the star of the show whose figure is on the cover – the Evil Queen from Snow White herself. She’s a fantastically powerful character, and she’s a lot of fun to play as, too.

You can read our strategy guide on how to play her to win your next game.

Dr. Facilier is a strong second in regards to power and enjoyment to play.

All-in-all, this was the expansion I enjoyed the most and added a whole extra layer of thrills to the game.

1. Disney Villainous Worst Takes it All

Disney Villainous Expansions Ranked

Okay, this is not an expansion – it’s the base set of the game. But it deserves to be mentioned in this list because I feel very strongly that it is the best of all the sets.

Although there have been many new expansions ever since it came out, the characters released in the base set are still among the strongest and most fun to play as. Maleficent is strong and fast, Prince John is easy to use and reliable, and the Queen of Hearts can be ridiculously overpowered if you play her right.

If you are looking to get into the game, you can’t go wrong with picking up Worst Takes it All to start.
