Disney Villainous: Wicked to the Core Review – Should You Get It?

Disney Villainous: Wicked to the Core is the first expansion to come out of Ravensburger for the incredibly popular Disney Villainous game. In it, you will find three new characters – Dr. Facilier, the Evil Queen, and Hades.

Our favorite of these, and also arguably the best, is the Evil Queen, and you can read our guide on how to play her.

How to play and win as the Evil Queen in Disney Villainous.

In this review, we’re going to be sharing what we like best from the set, where its possible short comings might be, and ultimately if it is worth your money to buy.

So hang onto your poison apples and voodoo magic sticks – things are about to get crazy.

How Much does Disney Villainous: Wicked to the Core Cost?

Given the games popularity, picking up this particular expansion (which is also a bit older by now) new can actually cost you a bit. It’s sold out brand new from big retailers like Target, but on eBay you can get it anywhere from $25-$35.

That’s a decent amount of money, however, for a game. So you’ll want to make sure you know what you are paying for.

What Does Wicked to the Core Come With?

Like all Villainous expansions (minus the upcoming Filled with Fright), Wicked to the Core comes with three characters, their respective player tokens, boards, 90 villain cards, 45 fate cards, 42 tokens, 3 reference cards, 3 villain guides, and instructions.

To put it simply, Wicked to the Core comes with everything you need to start playing villainous with your friends.

Can I Buy Wicked to the Core as a Standalone, or Do I Need to Buy Other Villainous Products in Order to Play?

You do not need to buy any other Disney Villainous products in order to play the game. With the Wicked to the Core expansion, you will be able to play Villainous with up to three players. Buying additional Villainous expansions or even the base set game, The Worst Takes it All, just enables you a greater variety of characters to choose from when playing the game.

Is Wicked to the Core Good for Beginners?

Wicked to the core is not necessarily ideal for those new to Villainous, but we do consider it the best of all Disney Villainous expansions.

While Hades is relatively easy and straightforward to play, The Evil Queen requires some pretty advanced gameplay to get her right, and Dr. Facilier – while wildly fun to play – can be equally tricky.

The Worst Takes it All, on the other hand, comes with several easier characters to play, making it a better choice for beginners.

Disney Villainous Wicked to the Core Review – Is it Worth It?

Yes, yes, and yes! If you like Disney Villainous, you should definitely pick up this expansion. The Evil Queen is absolutely hands down one of the most fun characters to play as in all of Villainous, and she is quite strong. Dr. Facilier is also really fun to play as, and can be quite over powered given his ability to win quickly if you play your cards right.

Even Hades who although despite being a very popular villain isn’t actually as competitive affords some great gameplay mechanics that will add plenty of spice to friendly matches.

You should absolutely pick this game up, and do so now before it goes up further in price due to scarcity.
