Disney Villainous: Filled with Fright Review – Is it Worth It?
This is it. It’s the big one! Oogie Boogie himself is now available as a playable Villainous character! That’s right! You can roll your dice to victory or defeat in this brand new expansion featuring one and only character – Oogie Boogie!
But, given this expansion features just one single character for the same price as previous expansions that featured three, you might be wondering it – is buying Filled with Fright really worth it?
Yes. Yes it is.
Disney Villainous: Filled with Fright is easy one of the best Villainous expansions to ever come out of Ravensburger, and we’re going to tell you why.

What Does Disney Villainous: Filled with Fright Come With?
Long time Villainous fans will be used to the usual three characters per expansion that’s been the norm up until now. Filled with Fright defies expectations in that regard by delivering only one character.
Of course, that single character is the ever popular Oogie Boogie. Given the enthusiasm over the cult classic, it’s quite likely that this expansion will sell quite well, despite being the same price as previous expansions with the same price tag but with more characters.
The box includes:
1 villain mover, 2 dice, 1 realm (board), 30 villain cards, 15 fate cards, 10 tokens, 1 reference card, 1 villain guide, and rulebook
Why is Filled with Fright Worth it Despite Having Only One Character?
Disney Villainous: Filled with Fright is easily worth the $14.99 you’re going to pay for it. Oogie Boogie is an incredibly fun character to play, and he is incredibly strong. In fact, he’s got to be one of the strongest playable villains in all of villainous right now thanks to his incredible draw power, and few fates that can slow him down.
The dice that the game comes with helps you enter the imersive experience of playing as Oogie Boogie, birning to life this iconic Villains gambling addiciton. We loved rolling the dice and hearing them clatter, sounding out our fate, just the way it was in the movie.
What Filled with Fright Lacks in Quantity it Makes Up for in Quality
Additionally, what this expansion might be lacking in quantity it makes up for in quality. Oogie Boogie is an incredibly fleshed out character, and his gameplay feels smooth and flawless.
What’s more, even his packaging and game materials feel higher quality. We loved the sculpted mover, the detailed dice that looked just like the ones from the movie, and even the box makes for an excellent way to store the pieces.
I like to sleeve my villainous cards, and even sleeved my villain deck plus hero deck fit perfectly inside this box. Even the box jacket helps add to the immersive experience, making the product feel like a high quality gift item and not just another run-of-the-mill expansion.
Can You Play Disney Villainous: Filled with Fright on Its Own?
No, as the back of the box says in red, you cannot buy and play Filled with Fright on its own. You will need at least one other expansion in order to play it. Of course, the more villains you have, the more fun villainous is in general!
What About Beginners – is Filled with Fright Good for Them?
A beginner could probably pick up Oogie Boogie as a playable villain easier than some of the other more complicated characters out there. But given the fact this set only comes with one character, it’s really meant to be an enhancement to the game for more seasoned players looking for a new challenge.
And that’s it! This game was a treat to play, and we think Ravensburger really outdid themselves this time! We wouldn’t mind more single villain expansions in the future if they contain the same quality and dedication to artistry as this one!
