Pokemon TCG: Stellar Crown Pull Rates – Are They Good?

While there may not be any major issue getting your hands on Stellar Crown products due to plenty of cards and products being put into production, the probability of getting your chase card doesn’t look much different than in recent sets, my friends over at TCGPlayer confirm.

After opening 8000 booster packs (that’s an insane number of cards), they found that the odds were very similar to what we saw in packs like Twilight Masquerade or Temporal Forces. However, on the bright side, they also point out that there are actually fewer cards in this set than the last major one, making the odds of getting a particular card a little better.

Stellar Crown Pull Rates per rarity

Let’s dive into some of the pull rates you can expect per card rarity, as this will impact how much you can expect to actually get that super rare and valuable card. This is pretty important especially given how expensive some of these Stellar Crown cards can actually be.

Double Rare pull rate

While the odds of getting a double rare card (a Pokemon ex) is pretty good at 1/6 Stellar Crown booster packs, the actual odds of pulling a specific double rare that you are looking for is much, much worse than that, hovering around 1/83.

Double rare cards are usually the most desired by players, as those are the cards they typically build their new decks out of. However, it seems clear that if you are trying to get the full play set for Terapagos ex, you’re better off hitting the singles market.

Ultra Rare pull rate

Crispin

Ultra Rare cards can be either Pokemon ex or Supporters. In Stellar Crown, the odds of getting an Ultra Rare card in your packs is a pretty decent 1/17 packs. However, again pulling a specific Ultra Rare is likely to set you back a bit in the finances department with a pull rate of 1/163 for a specific Ultra Rare. Luckily, Ultra Rare cards are often pretty affordable on the singles market.

ACE SPEC Pull Rates

If ACE SPEC cards are your thing, Stellar Crown has three to chase. These cards are actually surprisingly tough to come by (given the fact I pulled two Grand Trees at my prerelease). If you are looking to get your hands on just any old ACE SPEC, you have a 1/20 chance. Meanwhile, you’re odds get worse when trying to hunt a specific ACE SPEC, at 1 in 60 packs. Although, that’s actually pretty good compared to the odds of pulling specific cards of other rarities. That’s likely due to the pretty limited range of ACE SPEC cards in this expansion.

Illustration Rares

Illustration Rares

While Illustration Rares are the less had-to-get version of Special Illustration Rares, they’re nothing to turn your nose up to. In reality, Illustration Rares often end up being the most valuable cards in a set. Scarlet and Violet has a solid tradition of including nostalgic Pokemon in their Illustration Rare galleries, meaning these cards often hold a lot of value in their own right.

Actually, the odds of pulling an Illustration Rare are pretty good at 1/13 packs, with a more stultifying 1/167 for a specific card.

Hyper Rares

Hyper Rares are actually pretty sought after these days. Pokemon has been doing a good job of featuring cards people actually want in their Hyper Rare forms, making them especially fun to collect in order to include in a blinged-out deck. This expansion has three hyper rare cards to collect, and each are highly, highly collectible. They are the Bravery Charm, Area Zero Underdepths, and Terapagos ex gold cards.

These cards are incredibly rare and hard to pull, with a slightly abismal pull rate of 1 in 137 packs.

Special Illustration Rares

And, finally, the holy grail of Scarlet and Violet chase cards – Special Illustration Rares. You have around a 1% chance of pulling a Special Illustration Rare so if you happen to get lucky enough to grab one, know that you are in the minority!

Meanwhile, pulling a specific Special Illustration Rare (like the acclaimed Terapagos ex SIR) has a very small probability – about 1 in 540 packs.

Stellar Crown Pull Rates and Takeaways

If the main thing deciding whether or not you want to buy some Stellar Crown products for yourself is hesitancy around the pull rates, you’ll be either saddened or gladdened to know that the pull rates in this expansion are largely the same as past ones. That being said, the odds of pulling a specific rare card that you are chasing are much higher due to the smaller selection of secret rare cards in this set in general.

Happy hunting!
