#2 Charizard ex League Battle Deck
Let me start by saying this one is not a gift for Pokemon TCG collectors but rather those looking to cut their teeth on playing the Pokemon TCG game. If you’re new to playing the TCG, I can’t imagine a better place to start than this deck. While this Charizard ex deck could use a few upgrades, it’s got the bulk of what you’ll need to take it to your local Pokemon TCG league.
#3 Greninja/Kingdra ex Special Illustration Collection
When I think of the most interesting products released this year, the Special Illustration Collections from Shrouded Fable (this last summer’s special set) is one of the first to come to mind.
While hardened collectors may prefer just getting a ton of booster packs, many of us love to get products that have a mixture of known quantities (exciting promos) with the fun of diving into the unknown booster packs within.
What makes this particular box unique is that it’s the first time in the current era of the Pokemon TCG that features special illustration-like artwork on its promo cards. Both the Greninja and Kingdra are gorgeous cards – indeed they are among the most beautiful from the entire Shrouded Fable set!
I see this choice as being perfect for the middle-of-the-road Pokemon TCG fan who may collect a little, may play a little, but over-all enjoys beautiful renditions of popular Pokemon.
#4 Terapagos ex Ultimate Premium Collection
Ultra Premium Collections serve as the greatest hits albums for the current year’s Pokemon TCG lineup. This year’s UPC aptly includes Terapagos ex – a Pokemon card that is dazzling to behold, powerful to play, and endlessly challenging to chase.
As far as Pokemon TCG gifts go, you can’t really do much better than this year’s UPC. It packs a punch in nearly every category, delivering a hefty number of Pokemon booster packs (eighteen in total) along with some very desirable gold promo cards.
As if that weren’t enough to drive most Pokemon TCG fans wild, it’s also got a host of added accessories like a very cool Terapagos ex playmat and other unique card accessories including dice, coins and a deck box.
I can’t imagine anyone turning up their nose at this behemoth of a Pokemon product, and it’s the ideal gift for anyone who is looking to spend a little bit more cash this year.
#5 Surging Sparks Booster Box
In aiming to run the gamut on Pokemon TCG products, I can’t possibly leave out the Surging Sparks Booster Box. The Surging Sparks Booster is the single most sought after Pokemon product of the year, with cards from this set reaching insanely high amounts. The greatest chase of them all is the Pikachu ex Special Illustration Rare fetching hundreds of dollars on the secondary card market. But you don’t even need to pull that particular card to get a worthy chase: many, many cards are valuable in Surging Sparks.
This is the best product for really hardened collectors who will revel in the chance to open an incredible number of booster packs from this hot set. Be warned, however – with incredible demand comes a relatively hefty price for this particular product.
#6 Pokemon TCG Advent Calendar 2024
And going from the super hardened collectors to the more casual Pokemon TCG fans, this year’s Pokemon TCG advent calendar stands out even in today’s Advent Calendar frenzied world. A trip to your local department store will reveal an impressive number of different brands vying for your pocket book with advent calendars ranging from Nightmare Before Christmas to Harry Potter and beyond. But even with so many options the Pokemon TCG Advent Calendar holds its own.
Every day you get a different prize, and many of those prizes include some of the latest and greatest Pokemon TCG packs. Not only is it memorable to open this product up and find out what prizes wait inside, it’s even more memorable when you pull something fantastic and rare from one of the boosters included.
While there is an undeniably casual element to this particular product, I think any true Pokemon lover would find this calendar fun and that’s especially for children.
