Lorcana: Rise of the Floodborn Full Set Review
For Lorcana fans, it’s an exciting time. Disney Lorcana’s second set, Rise of the Floodborn, has hit shelves in a limited capacity, meaning Illumineers have (hopefully) been able to get their hands on a few products by now.
We picked up every single Lorcana Rise of the Floodborn box on release day, opened the packs, and documented our findings, so that you can know everything there is to know about the best Rise of the Floodborn products money can buy.

Rise of the Floodborn Review – Is it a Good Set?
Let’s get the elephant out of the way first. Yes: Rise of the Floodborn is a phenomenal set. It’s not only a great Lorcana set, but it’s one of the best expansions I’ve seen of any card game, delivering on everything we loved from The First Chapter, while adding even more fun mechanics and beautiful chase cards.
Is Rise of the Floodborn still overpriced?
Disney Lorcana products have been plagued with supply issues since the super popular and collectible game launched. Of course what happens when supply is tight and demand is high? Prices go up. Rise of the Floodborn products are very expensive compared to what their suggested retail price was, and we certainly haven’t left the Lorcana bubble.
That being said, there are a few encouraging signs that things might be changing.
First of all, on a personal basis, I was actually able to get Lorcana products on opening day. While I paid more for them than I would on TCGplayer (I would highly recommend you purchase there to get the best price), it was worth it to me so that I could get this review to you on time.
That being said, it was the first time I had ever seen actual Lorcana products at a store for sale.
Beyond my own experience, there are other signs that the market is getting better thanks to Ravensburger’s commitment to reprinting cards to increase supply.
Signs the Lorcana Bubble is Bursting
Regular rare cards are less expensive
By “regular” rare cards I’m talking about the cards that are part of the 204 Rise of the Floodborn set, not including the enchanted rare cards. While the enchanted rare cards are undoubtedly the most expensive, when you compare the desirable cards from Rise of the Floodborn to past prices we saw for cards from The First Chapter, they’re not nearly as bad.
As we speak, there are only six cards going for more than $20 on TCGplayer. While cards from The First Chapter are now comparable, that’s after being on the market for several months. Rise of the Floodborn cards have dropped to affordable prices (as far as trading card games go) after just one single weekend!
Whereas before it would have cost nearly a fortune to put a competitive Lorcana deck together, now you can do so much more reasonably, and that should make anyone happy.
Product prices are dropping
Additionally, while the cards themselves are rapidly becoming more affordable, the sealed products themselves have been becoming (gradually) more affordable. For the most up-to-date prices on these products, you can view our product guide.
Rise of the Floodborn – Booster Box Review
With 24 booster packs at 12 cards a pack, the Rise of the Floodborn Booster Box certainly helps you get enough cards to start building some really cool decks. Although you’ll undoubtedly still need to purchase additional cards on the single market to get to that polished, competitive-level deck to bring to your local tournament, the booster box really gave me a vast variety of cards to work with.
In addition to the foil cards above, I also got several really cool chase cards that I’m excited about. You can see them below.
All-in-all, I loved opening the booster box, and I was really excited to get my hands on one. The only downer was I didn’t get an enchanted rare, and I had really hoped I might. For what you pay for the box right now, you almost need an enchanted rare to get your money back.
That being said, Rise of the Floodborn is a stellar set and getting the booster box was definitly the right way to go for someone like me who wants to experiment with a lot of different cards in multiple decks, while also granting me the chance to pull some very rare, very cool cards.

Rise of the Floodborn Illumineer's Trove Review
The Illumineer’s Trove from The First Chapter was my favorite Lorcana product up to this point, so of course I was excited to get my hands on this particular one. My immediate reaction, however, was the noticeable difference in feel between the Rise of the Floodborn Trove and The First Chapter.
While The First Chapter Trove had a glossy print that sort of stuck to your hands, Rise of the Floodborn is just plain old matte. Not that there’s anything wrong with printing stuff with a matte finish (and I bet it’s cheaper), but it did lead to an immediate feel of loss of quality when compared to the the same box from The First Chapter.
That being said, the box came with one big improvement which is the insert that enables you to sort your cards better. While you can actually take these inserts out, I found them super helpful for storing my cards that I got from my other Lorcana products. Now all they need to do is include some filing organizers the way Pokemon does in their ETBs and we’ll be set! Those ink types aren’t going to sort themselves!
Additionally, the Trove comes with a player’s guide, some damage markers, and two deck boxes. Now that I have the Lorcana card sleeves (which are surprisingly good), I can actually use these deck boxes, so I’ll forgive the fact that they are really sort of flimsy material.
All of that being said, I loved this product, and it remains my favorite product from Rise of the Floodborn. I also pulled an Alice – Growing Girl from my Trove. One Legendary rare from a Treasure Trove is certainly not bad!

Disney Lorcana: Disney100 Collector's Edition Review
This review is at once the easiest and hardest review to write. It’s the easiest because i have a definitive opinion about it, and the hardest because I honestly was so disappointed with the product I got, despite this particular one being the Rise of the Floodborn box I was most excited about.
The product is described in the following way:
And that sounds seriously cool. Alternate art cards that you are guaranteed to get in a special collector’s box? Sign me up! I couldn’t believe my luck when I found one of these on release day.
That was until I opened it.
At first, everything looked good. The packaging was just as exciting and Disneyesque as it looked online. And it seemed that the contents themselves were very well protected within this central bit that you had to open in order to get at its contents. It seemed weird, however, to have such a big box when you just put everything in one small little compartment at the bottom. Ravensburger could learn a thing or two here from Pokemon which does a great job with displaying their contents within their boxes.
It was especially weird given the condition the cards were in. I could tell right away that the promo cards I was so excited about were a little bent. I didn’t realize just how bent, however, until I opened them and put them out on the table in front of me.
The cards were more than just a little bent, and I have to say the blame rests solely on the manufacturers and shippers here, as I can’t imagine much else being to blame for the condition these cards were in upon opening the box. The box wasn’t damaged in any other way, and the cards were well secured within that little compartment you can clearly see in my pictures.
My best guess as to what caused the issues with the bending is temperature. These cards must have been exposed to some sort of extreme conditions to have bent in the way they did.
My hope is that Ravensburger fixes this issue in the future, because obviously bent cards ruined what would otherwise have been a tremendous special collection featuring beautiful and unique cards.

Rise of the Floodborn Set Review – Final Verdict
Despite the odds, Ravensburger has achieved the improbable – Rise of the Floodborn is even more exciting, beautiful and fun than The First Chapter. Combined, the two sets create a deeper, richer world for both collectors and players, with fun, fresh new strategies to explore, and many more beautiful artworks of their favorite characters to collect.
