New Disney Lorcana Trailer Video Gets Mixed Reactions from Fans
Ravensburger released a new trailer video that hints at some of the lore behind Lorcana’s universe. And while the video was admitedly cool (especially keeping in mind this was a game that only released a few months ago), fans are having many mixed feelings about the video. Watch the video below and see the feedback from fans as well.
“Can’t you use that flood of ink to print more card?”
The most common comment I found when scrolling through the various reactions to the video had to do with the serious gap between supply and demand racking the Lorcana world. Of course, I don’t think Ravensburger is the villain here – most likely its scalpers to blame, and Ravensburger is doing everything they can to meet demand.
And to be fair, things are getting better. Prices for Lorcana: Rise of the Floodborn products are coming down significantly, and hopefully will be a) more readily available at stores and b) be more affordable on the secondary card market.
What’s up with the low quality animation?
I’m no expert in animation so I don’t know what the kind of technique they used here is called, but it certainly isn’t your typical high quality animated short film. That being said, the artwork is still certainly very nice. If I were Disney, I’d lend Ravensburger a hand here. After all, it’s Disney IP that’s being represented, so why not help take them the full way to a truly epic trailer.
That being said, Disney is not the entity producing this game, and we need to remember that. Ravensburger is. Given that, it’s pretty cool they’re going the extra mile to make a trailer for a card game. I come from the generation of kids that originated a lot of the current craze around trading card games. Back then, we weren’t even getting low quality animated trailers for our games.
So this is pretty cool that this game is so big they’re going to such great lengths to promote it.
All-in-all, Rise of the Floodborn is now here, and Ravensburger is not only actively building a terrific TCG, they’re expanding their own universe and explaining the backstory to their own lore, running side-by-side with the Disney Characters we know and love. It’s been a great year for Lorcana and we’re only just getting started.
