Ravensburger Abandons Web Sales of Rise of the Floodborn Amid DDos Attack
Today was the day everyone was waiting for. After an incredible shortage racked the original release of Disney Lorcana, Ravensburger was ready to make amends by making it possible for eager fans to purchase Lorcana product at its suggested retail price directly from them.
However, the web launch went horribly wrong after a massive DDos attack shut systems down. Following massive ques in the 100,000+ range, Ravensburger displayed the following message and text that reads:
According to Google Bard, a DDos attack is a malicious attempt to overwhelm a victim's server with a flood of requests, rendering it unavailable to legitimate users. This can be done by flooding the server with traffic from multiple sources, or by using a botnet of infected computers to launch the attack.
So someone purposely targeted Ravensburger with this sort of an attack just to block them from purchasing Rise of the Floodborn products at suggested retail price? Who would do such a thing and why?
Whatever the reason, it seems that, for now, the best place to get your Rise of the Floodborn products at some semblance of a fair price is still on TCGplayer.
