Rise of the Floodborn Winnie the Pooh Deck Guide

In this strategy guide, we’re going to be diving into a brand new deck that you can use that is themed largely around Winnie the Pooh. While there aren’t yet enough Winnie the Pooh cards in Sapphire/Amber to really build a deck solely around characters from the Hundred Acre Wood, this deck uses as many of them as possible to give you that Pooh sort of feeling while crushing your opponents.

Winnie the Pooh Sapphire/Amber Deck – Strategy

This deck relies heavily on your item cards. The most important of these item cards might just be Pawpsicle.

This Pawpsicle card lets you draw a card when you play it, and additionally heals your characters when it is banished. It’s sort of a two-for-one ability that makes this item fantastic.

Combine Pawpsicle with Hiram Flaversham - Toymaker

As if getting to draw a card thanks to Pawpsicle wasn’t enough, Hiram Flaversham also grants you the opportunity to draw cards whenever you banish one of your items in play. Use him strategically to banish Pawpsicle and heal damage from your characters.

Noi quests for lore early

Don’t underestimate the effectiveness of Noi in this deck. When you have an item in play (which you always should when playing this deck), Noi gets added stats.

Use Noi to grab lore as often as possible. Thanks to her resist and ward, she won’t be easy to get rid of.

Winnie the Pooh – Having a Think is an excellent alternative to Mickey Mouse – Detective

In chapter one, many decks ran Mickey Mouse – Detective in order to get extra cards into their inkwell. Winnie the Pooh – Having a Think is a fantastic alternative to that card, and has the potential to be even more effective.

The only downside of Pooh compared to Mickey in this context is that Mickey Mouse – Detective enables you to place ink into your inkwell immediately when it is played. Winnie the Pooh makes you wait until it quests. While that affords your opponent time to remove Pooh from play, that shouldn’t be a huge concern early in the game, and Pooh’s additional stats and abilities more than make up for this downside. For example, he has a lore value of two, and also allows you to add Ink whenever it quests – not just once.

Lastly, the cards that you add into your inkwell using the Hunny Pot ability can still be used that turn. They aren’t exerted the way they are with Mickey Mouse – Detective’s ability.

Play high impact cards once you have that added ink

Thanks to ink acceleration from Winnie the Pooh, you can play high impact cards earlier in the game than you otherwise would be able to. Slap down a Christopher Robin to start taking massive amounts of lore or a Rabbit – Reluctant Hero to serve as both a beefy character and a solid quester.

Endgame Combo – Snow White, Pawpsicle & Grand Pabbie

This deck build takes advantage of the fabulous Floodborn card, Snow White – Well Wisher to ensure you always have an item in your hand when you need it.

In what is undoubtedly the most difficult combo to pull off in this deck, Snow White also can be used to heal damage and quickly gain lore when combined with Grand Pabbie – Oldest and Wisest, Nick Wilde, and Pawpsicle.

Here’s how to pull off this deadly combo:

  1. Quest with Snow White – Well Wisher and use her Wishes Come True ability to bring Nick Wilde – Wily Fox into your hand.

  2. Play Nick Wilde – Wily Fox and use its “It’s Called a Hustle” ability to bring a Pawpsicle to your hand.

  3. Play Pawpsicle to draw a card, then banish it to heal damage from your characters.

  4. Gain additional lore via Grand Pabbie’s Ancient Wisdom ability.

Final Thoughts on this Rise of the Floodborn Sapphire/Amber Deck

All-in-all, I really like the potential of this particular deck. And good news for anyone who has already purchased the Sapphire/Amber starter deck – that starter deck has many of the cards you’ll need to upgrade it to this one.
