All Disney Lorcana Release Dates So Far & Upcoming
Like any trading card game, Disney Lorcana frequently releases new cards, keeping mechanics new and fresh, the competitive scene vibrant, and money flowing from our wallets into Ravensburger’s. With so many releases happening, it can be a little bit challenging to stay on top of them all.
Never fear! In this guide, we’re going to be compiling every single Lorcana release date so far, and upcoming ones you should know about.
Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter – August 18, 2023
Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter was (as it sounds) the original Lorcana base set to come out of Ravensburger. And it was an incredible hit. So much so that demand for The First Chapter products fueled a frenzied shortage, resulting in a reprint just months after its release.
And while The First Chapter was an excellent expansion, it was not without its share of pitfalls. Most frusturatingly, perhaps, the game had a serious draw support issue, with unequal access to a strong draw engine across its several ink types. What’s more, it didn’t include enough cards to support a terribly impressive meta game, with at best only five decks being competitively viable.
That being said, those are issues that would probably plague any brand new trading card game, and the positives of The First Chapter far outweighed its negatives.
The set boasted incredibly fun and engaging mechanics, gorgeous Enchanted Rares that will probably remain legendary for a long time to come for how hard they were to pull and how prized they were to claim, and solidified Disney Lorcana as real threat to the existing trading card game market with an appeal far broader perhaps than any other trading card game we’ve witnessed to date.
Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter release date
Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter had an early release at local game stores and select Disney Parks on August 18, 2023, and a full retail release on September 1, 2023. This release schedule would cement the approach Ravensburger would emulate for subsequent releases, following the same timeframe of early release to full retail release.
Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter products
The First Chapter included several fantastic Lorcana products including:
A Booster Box
Three starter decks (which we opened and reviewed)
A gift set
Playmats and deck boxes.
Set Two: Rise of the Floodborn – November 17, 2023
The first three sets of Disney Lorcana were said to have been designed together, so it makes sense how Ravensburger was able to follow so closely on the heels of the phenomenally successful First Chapter with the also astounding Rise of the Floodborn set release.
Despite what the title would lead you to think, Rise of the Floodborn wasn’t noteworthy so much for the Floodborn characters it introduced (which were, of course, great) as it was for significantly up-leveling the Disney Lorcana game as a whole.
By the time Rise of the Floodborn released, supply issues had largely been fixed, and within weeks of its release, Lorcana cards were quite affordable on the secondary card market, and Lorcana TCG products (both Rise of the Floodborn and The First Chapter) could be found at both local game stores and big retailers reliably.
And this is good because with Rise of the Floodborn Disney Lorcana cemented itself as more than just a scalper fueled anomaly – it became a veritable TCG powerhouse with enough cards and mechanics to establish a thriving (if somewhat unbalanced) metagame.
With gorgeous cards, plenty of additional draw support for each ink type, and fascinating new mechanics and a deck building experience that is still bringing new mechanics to light today, Rise of the Floodborn should go down in history as one of the greatest TCG expansions of all time.
Rise of the Floodborn release date
Rise of the Floodborn had its early release at local game stores and select Disney parks on November 17, 2023, and a full retail release on December 1, 2023. While it featured a similar product lineup as the First Chapter, there also were a few noteworthy differences.
Instead of the typical gift set we saw in The First Chapter, Ravensburger took advantage of the significant hype around the Disney100 centenial celebration to do a special gift set. This gift set featured special promos featuring alternate artwork for several cards featuring popular characters. The gift set was a huge success and still one of the most unique products to come out of Disney Lorcana to date.
Additional changes included releasing only two starter decks instead of three, and a slightly upgraded Illumineer’s Trove with a divider.

Set Three: Into the Inklands – February 23, 2024
Disney Lorcana’s third set, Into the Inklands, had a release date at local game shops and select Disney parks of February 23, 2024, and a full retail release on March 8, 2024.
While you would think it would be hard to compete with the masterpieces that were the first two sets, Into the Inklands managed to somehow outdo themselves in their third set.
Releasing game changing mechanics like Location cards and a host of new cards based on Disney franchises we hadn’t yet seen, Into the Inklands showed that Ravensburger is certainly not afraid of challenging the status quo and explore new grounds.
Looking back, Into the Inklands felt like the peak of Lorcana hype. While clearly still a successful game, it was in Into the Inklands that we saw the incredible hype for things like the Stitch set championships that drove huge amounts of players to local game shops and became something of an event on social media in general.
Meanwhile, the product lineup was exceptionally solid with two new each of starter decks, playmats, deck boxes and card sleeves, as well as the same booster card products including: a booster box, an Illumineer’s Trove, and a gift set (similar to the one from The First Chapter featuring jumbo cards).
One notable change that I was particularly excited to see coming out of Into the Inklands, however, was a revamped Illumineer’s Trove featuring enhancements like damage dice counters, a lore counter, and seperaters to make organizing cards by ink type easier.
Set Four: Ursula’s Return – May 1, 2024
Ursula’s Return takes players into uncharted waters. For the first time ever, a set is themed entirely around a single character: Ursula. While this set doesn’t introduce any mind bending mechanics or new card types, there are still plenty of reasons to be excited about this one thanks to new Disney properties being included (Encanto) and even a standalone product that allows players to collaborate against a common foe.
Learn more about the set in our Ursula’s Return product guide, and see the complete set via our Ursula’s Return spoilers card list.
Set Five: Shimmering Skies – August 9, 2024
Shimmering Skies was pitched as a celebration of sorts following the defeat of Ursula in the previous set. What wasn’t pitched, however, was how solid of a set this one was going to be. In Shimmering Skies we got many useful new cards that saw the meta broadening a bit, as well as a host of gorgeous enchanted cards that fit the party theming perfectly.
Set Six: Azurite Sea – November 15, 2024
Lorcana’s Sixth set (and the final one of 2024) is Azurite Sea. Set on the wide open seas brimming with pirates, robots and adventure, this set has some strong theming that’s easy to grasp and get excited about. Before launch, the many exciting spoilers from the sixth set that got revealed, including a powerful new Stitch pirate character and pirate map themed enchanted cards that are beautiful and valuable had fans excited to experience this brand new take on Lorcana
After release, however, it’s clear that Azurite Sea was a landmark achievement for Lorcana, and shows that even after a year of releases, the Lorcana team is nowhere near done innovating!
Lorcana’s seventh set is Archazia’s Island – March, 2025
News on Lorcana’s next set came to us in an unorthodox manner compared to what has been the established norm for how these releases get announced. Regardless, we do now know what the next Lorcana set is and it’s called Archazia’s Island. This set will be featuring a new IP in Bolt (featured in the release image above).
Here’s Lorcan’a blurb on the set:
“Welcome to Archazia’s Island, where friendly pets abound! Beyond the cast of cuddly critters lies an ancient secret, just waiting to be discovered. We are excited to learn new tricks when Archazia’s Island releases in March 2025.”
Also an interesting point to highlight is the fact that this set will be releasing a bit later than many had anticipated based on the previous release shedule. But this is probably a welcome change for the Lorcana team as they’ve been heavily pumping out exciting sets and we wouldn’t want quality of these sets compromised by quantity!
Products coming out with Archazia’s Island.
We’re getting a very unique gift box product that features an alternate artwork of Lilo as well as a very exciting storage box and an assortment of the latest Lorcana booster packs.
We’ll also be getting a few exciting new accessoriesl ike the Tigger Pirate and Big Hero Six playmats and two deck boxes featuring Cinderella – Ballroom Sensation and Ursula – Deceiver of all: two very popular characters in the game.
Lorcana’s eighth set is Reign of Jafar – April - June, 2025
We don’t have a fixed release date for Lorcana’s eighth set but we do know it’s name and that it will be coming to stores and hobby shops in the second quarter of next year (which means sometime between April-June).
Online many players and fans are already speculating that we will be getting a second Illumineer’s Quest in this set given the theming around a big baddie the same way Ursula’s Return did. If that’s the case, I guess we can extrapolate that Ursula’s Return Challenge products sold well enough to get Lorcana to release another.
If that’s the case, maybe we will also get a Jafar enchanted promo for the set championships which would likely be very popular among players.
