It’s pretty exciting to get an enchanted Cinderella card, and not surprising at all that it would be one of the top chase cards from this expansion. Thanks to its phenomenal artwork and early success on the competitive Lorcana scene, Cinderella has taken up the mantle as the definitive chase card of the set. The singer 3 ability is quite strong, and a similar card (Ariel) had a lot of success in The First Chapter format of Disney Lorcana. Will Cinderella remain the chase card of this set? While it’s too early to know for sure, I’d say it’s quite likely.
One enchanted rare card that’s been getting a lot of attention on the secondary card market is none other than the gorgeously designed Alice – Growing Girl Enchanted Rare. Appearing here in Dreamborn form, this phenomenal artwork by Alice Pisoni certainly captures the essence of Alice in Wonderland, perhaps even better than the original film. Of course, just being granted an enchanted version of a card does not guarantee that the card is going to be strong or even frequently used. In Alice’s case, however, we have one of the strongest cards to be introduced in Rise of the Floodborn, adding to this rare card’s desirability.
From a playability standpoint as well as from an artwork one, I prefer Alice – Growing Girl’s Enchanted card over Cinderella’s Enchanted form. It’s my single favorite Enchanted so far, and I would not be surprised to see it retain a lot of value overtime.
When Rise of the Floodborn first came out, it seemed Sisu might be the most valuable card in the set. However, things change quickly on the secondary card market. Today, Sisu is still worth an impressive amount of money, but a few things impact its value. While the artwork is undeniably gorgeous (good work, Grace Tran), Sisu isn’t as recognizeable of a character as either Alice or Cinderella. Additionally, Sisu is not as commonly used in gameplay.
Still, this card is worth a lot and I would be jumping for joy if I happened to open it in a Disney Lorcana sealed product.
This version of Snow White (while featuring undeniably gorgeous artwork) is a Floodborn character, meaning that she appears quite differently than the character we are used to seeing from the story. I also appreciate the puny title she’s given – a well wisher is someone who wishes the best for others. Of course, we also know about Snow White that she likes to literally make wishes in wells.
Snow White is one of the most iconic of all Disney characters, so it’s fitting she would be one of the most valuable cards to come out of Disney Lorcana, not just Rise of the Floodborn.
In case you didn’t know already, there’s an enchanted version of Madam Mim – Purple Dragon running around out there in the wild. This card is an absolute beast. Honestly, it’s kind of hard to wrap my head around how strong this one is. She’s got an ability that sort of sounds like it could be a negative (you have to banish either her or two other characters of yours), but works incredibly well when you pair it with certain Merlin cards.
Apart from the ability, just look at those gnarly stats – four lore, and 5/7 on the strength/will power? Pretty incredible!
Oh, and the artwork is pretty cool, too. Move over, Maleficent – there’s a new dragon in town!
This Beast Enchanted Rare should be familiar to any serious Disney Fan. It’s a Storyborn character, meaning the Beast appears here exactly as he does in the films, and the scene this card captures is one of the most dramatic from one of Disney’s most bankable intellectual properties. This card will likely retain its value pretty well overtime, and benefits from also being a very playable card in certain Emerald deck builds.
However, it’s not quite as strong as another Beast card that’s seeing a ton of play in the Lorcana meta: Beast – Tragic Hero. That Beast Floodborn characters doesn’t have an enchanted card, however. But we’re happy with this one.
This Herculues – Devine hero Enchanted card is pretty cool. However, it’s not quite as cool as another Cinderella steel card that’s seeing a ton of play right now. Cinderella – Stouthearted is the stronger, high cost steel character. Not only does she also have resist, she has more Lore value, higher defense, and a stronger ability. Still, Hercules is a cool character and this Floodborn depiction of him depicts an even cooler hero than we ever got to see in the stories. I guess that fits with the theme of Floodborn characters in general, where Floodborn variations of characters pick out specific elements of their character and exagerate them. We see here Hercules at his most valiant and heroic accentuated for eternal Lorcana glory. And we dig it.
Rise of the Floodborn features many characters from the lesser known Sword and Shield film. Two of them made it into the enchanted rare camp. The artwork for this card is spectacular, with Arthur’s Dreamborn version performing magic most likely learned from his famous teacher, Merlin.
In addition to its rarity, Arthur is quite strong, with an ability that is likely to be leveraged by many serious Lorcana players. Specifically, Arthur pairs really well with Madam Mim – Purple Dragon and various Merlin cards. From a playability standpoint, Arthur is probably my favorite card in all of Rise of the Floodborn, as his ability adds a lot of fun combos and mechanics to the game we didn’t have in The First Chapter.
I’m not gonna lie – I really like this card. There are several cards revealed in Rise of the Floodborn that reward players from being really, really aggressive with challenging. I think this card works really well from that perspective. It also looks really cool, with Shere Khan holding up his paw menacingly, probably hatching a plot that’s gonna be really unenjoyable for somebody.
As if Lady Tremaine weren’t terrifying enough as it is, this new makeover – courtesy of being a Floodborn character – is even worse. I guess I can see why someone might like this card enough to pay nearly $200 for it. If I had it hanging around in a display case or something, though, it might give me nightmares.
As cool as this card looks, it’s not super surprising that Namaari’s enchanted rare form would be the second least expensive of the enchanted rare cards from this set. It lacks some of the glamour and broader appeal the other enchanted cards on this list have in spades, and playability-wise it’s not the strongest. I just don’t think that 2 strength is going to be enough to make the otherwise stellar Blades ability overly effective (unless you pair it with some crazy support cards and additional resist).
Initial data on Pete – Bad Guy put it much higher up on this list of most valuable Rise of the Floodborn cards. As prices have settled considerably since the set’s release, Pete has not suprisingly dropped to the very bottom of the list. While still valuable, its value is derived almost entirely from the fact that it is an enchanted rare. However, there are just way more popular characters in this list.
