We Opened the Disney Lorcana Illumineer's Trove – Here’s What’s Inside

If you’ve tried to find Disney Lorcana at your local retailer, odds are you were out of luck – this game has been snatched up by everyone, and unless you’re planning on making a trip to the park sometime soon, you’re probably out of luck.

We got our Disney Lorcana Illumineer’s Trove from TCGplayer. Here’s what was included, what we pulled from our packs, and whether or not we think this product is worth it.

Where Did We Buy the Disney Lorcana Illumineer’s Trove?

We got this Illumineer’s Trove on eBay because it was the best price we could find. The seller was incredibly communicative, and when we requested that the item be shipped as soon as possible so that we could write this review, he/she shipped it almost immediately!

How Much Did it Cost Us?

While the Disney Lorcana Illumineer’s Trove is only supposed to cost you about $49.99 MSRP, it certainly isn’t going for that online. With the incredible shortage due to (scalpers) and hype around the game, it will almost always cost you over $100, with a current listing price of $149.00 on TCGplayer.

We got ours for just $109.99 on eBay. Was it worth it? We’ll find out below.

What is included in the Disney Lorcana Illumineer’s Trove?

The Trove comes in a unique, square box made of materials that feels sturdy. Just by comparison, if you’ve collected Pokemon cards recently and are familiar with the ETBs, while those are also unique and great items, the Treasure Trove box feels even more like something I would hold onto and use. It just has a really tough feel, like I’d like to store my cards in there or tote it around. It’s also pretty compact, making it easier to take on the go.

And here are all of the contents of the box.

In case the picture isn’t clear, the Disney Lorcana Treasure Trove includes:
• 1 storage box
• 2 deck boxes
• 8 booster packs
• 15 game tokens
• 1 player's guide

The Deck Boxes are Flimsy

While the Treasure trove storage box feels really sturdy and is definitely something I would hold onto, I doubt I’ll hold onto the included deck boxes forever. While they look cool with iconic Disney characters printed on them, I was really confused on how to actually use them. Do they fold over? How do they stay down? They’re also pretty small, meaning sleeved cards may only just barely fit in them (depending on the sleeves, they might not even fit at all).

The Booster Packs Feel Awesome and Include 12 Cards!

I was a little taken aback by just how many cards are inluded in the Disney Lorcana booster packs. I’m more used to Pokemon packs that come with 10 cards, but the added two cards in these boosters help to fill the packs out and make them feel more substantial.

Also, the packing for the cards themselves felt sturdier, which could possibly lead to cards being less likely to be damaged, and also add to a very positive opening experience. Instead of opening material that feels like a cheap wrapper to be discarded, these booster packs are packed in sturdy feeling material that almost makes you feel bad for throwing them away.

Here Are Our Best Pulls from The Disney Lorcana Illumineer’s Trove

We didn’t get any fancy alternate arts, but we did get a really cool Mickey Mouse. You can see our best pulls in our binder in the picture below.

All in all, we didn’t make our money back from the pulls, but the opening experience was great, and it was a lot of fun to collect these cards. If you are looking to make money off of the packs you buy from Disney Lorcana, you might want to think twice buying it at the currently inflated price.

If, however, you are looking to collect and don’t care about the ROI, it certainly could be worth buying for you. Once these Trove’s are available more commonly in stores for their suggested retailer price, they will certainly be worth the price.
