Lorcana Belle Ramp Deck List and Guide

One of my favorite decks right now is the Belle Ramp deck. It varies greatly from the current popular way of playing Sapphire/Steel that leverages Cogsworth. However, this deck does a good job against every deck in the meta right now with no weaknesses. Of course, that also means that it doesn’t have a unique advantage against any particular deck.

That being said, if you are looking for a really solid, well-rounded deck, I would highly recommend this one.

Belle Ramp deck matchup guide

It’s worth going into the matchup for each of the top meta decks right now because these are taking up the lion’s share of the playing market right now, and they’re most likely what you are going to see at your tournament.

I believe this deck has the potential do do well against virtually any deck with the right luck, and the cards have been handpicked to help counter what most people are playing. Here’s how:

Use Tiana to block actions

Tiana’s one way action/song blocking ability is hugely impactful in a meta dominated by songs. Use this to shut off Ruby/Amethyst at key moments, and really annoy Amber/Steel players. Ruby/Amethyst has better answers to this particular tech as Maui – Hero to All can take Tiana out in one hit. However, Amber/Steel doesn’t have an instant solution to Tiana, and would be forced to lean mostly on the Queen – Commanding Presence if they are running that or on having a Cinderella – Stouthearted in play.

Protect your characters with Aurora – Dreaming Guardian

Although the most popular Sapphire/Steel deck runs Cogsworth, Aurora is actually more useful in many situations than Cogsworth. Cogsworth is mostly just good for matchup against other Steel decks while doing close to nothing against Ruby/Amethyst. Meanwhile, if you manage to get two Aurora – Dreaming Guardians down along with a Tiana, there’s almost nothing your opponent can do to stop you.

Counter tough characters with Hercules

For starters, his three will power is very helpful in the Amber/Steel matchup, protecting him against early game songs via Cinderella. Meanwhile, his six-cost Floodborn version can banish just about anything out there in a challenge: both character and location (with a few exceptions on the location side of things). In particular, Hercules is great for an equal trade with Maui in Ruby/Amethyst and totally wrecks Cogsworth if Cogsworth is exerted.

It doesn’t hurt that Hercules also has a powerful resist keyword ability, making him effective against Steelsong decks.

High Inkability helps Belle Ramp run more smoothly

A lot of decks right now are running a high un-Inkable count (number of cards that can’t be added to the Inkwell). While that strategy does work for a lot of decks, this deck works particularly well with a lower number of un-Inkable cards. There are two reasons for that which we’ll get into below:

Tiana needs an empty hand for her ability

What You Give is What You Get only works when your hand is empty. And while this deck runs several cards purposefully to help you clear out excess un-Inkable cards, it’s going to be a lot easier to ensure you are able to empty your hand when necessary if you have high majority of Inkable cards.

Belle only Inks Inkable cards

Secondly, Belle has a powerful ability that lets you passively add lore to your Inkwell. However, it doesn’t work the way Fishbone Quill does, letting you put any card into your Inkwell facedown. Instead, it just works as an extra Ink per turn. For this reason, you really want to ensure you have plenty of Inkable cards in your hand at any given time. This way you can quickly ramp up using Belle and her passive “Read a Book” ability.

Pooh is more versatile in this deck than Mickey Mouse – Detective

Speaking of Inkability, this is the reason why Pooh is here instead of Detective Mickey. Pooh has a pretty helpful ability that’s often underused, and it pairs particularly well with Tiana. Pooh is Inkable which makes him a better fit for this deck, while instead of adding Ink to your Inkwell from the top of your deck, you can Ink whatever is in your hand.

Pair Lucky Dime with Belle

Belle isn’t just strong because of her “Read a Book” ability, she’s also strong because of her “My Favorite Part” ability which enables her to quest for an incredible five lore. The only problem is, she’ll often get picked off by your opponent before you can actually quest with her.

However, Lucky Dime helps here, as you can use it the moment Belle is played to gain an instant five lore.

When all is said and done, this Belle Ramp deck is very strong and has done quite well from my testing online. Try it out at your next tournament and let me know how it goes!
